These are large but work wonderfully
Please realize that you are purchasing large rods. That's what I wanted but they dwarf everything else I already have. They come with a small loop of ball chain but no strikers so keep that in mind. They are difficult to get a good grip that maximizes as much length as possible so I used some scrap white oak to make handles and epoxied the rods into the handles. This still provides a good bit of usable length while making it much easier to handle. The shaving that comes off of this is phenomenal. The sparks are abundant but with the proper striker and technique, you can stand and produce sparks that will land on the ground and still have some burn time, which is what you when working with tinder bundles.I may not carry them in my EDC pack due to size and weight, but they are now part of my permanent fire making bag that gets used most. I'll be back for more when I have worked my way through these two.

Lots of hot spark
I have only used inexpensive magnesium blocks that have a striker glued to one side. They work but nowhere near as good to produce spark as these ferro rods. Some people have stated they are large and heavy but to me they are just right. One rod weighs 3.9 oz, are 1/2" by 5". Long enough to "throw" a good hot spark and thick enough to not break when applying some pressure. I sanded the coating off one side, used the saw back of a Leatherman and was able to light dryer lint in two strikes. Excellent product.

Wonderful
Good size, you get two, and they come with pre drilled holes. They also come with key rings, but I strung mine with leather strips. Good price for two of these life saving sticks.

Heavy but VERY effective.
These rods throw amazing sparks of super hot material that can easily ignite any decent tender bundle, punk wood or char cloth. They are sturdy and get excellent spray using my Gerber Strongarm and my $5 dollar Camillus I got in the cheap bend at Tractor Supply. My only concern might be for the ultra-light types as these are beefy heavy rods, my only reason for the 4 star rating. Buy the things.

Heavy, but worth it, Best bang for the buck
I think most of these types of phariseum rods tend to be made out of almost the same material. The trick is to try to find some that are decently priced. I feel like these from this company are the best bang for the buck, meaning you get two of them for the price of one at other brands. They work great! It does take a few initial scrapes to get going, then once you get through the coating on the outside, the Sparks fly, literally.

It just works
This ferro rod will set your pants on fire. Really, I use a sharp knife to scrap tinny fibers off the cuff of my pants into a small pile and hit it with sparks from ferro rod and boom, I have an ember that can be made into a fire. A sharp knife (not stainless) works great to make massive sparks.
