Works exactly as advertised
The enclosure comes very well packaged so there is no chance of damage during delivery. Once the outer packaging has been removed it poses no problem at all to remove the single screw holding the rear lid in place. They also include a nifty little screwdriver for this purpose but one that fits neatly in your hand, not some miniature version you need to hold between your fingers. This is probably the only real negative thing I have to say about the product, the size. Just like the included screwdriver, the case is much larger than it needs to be. The SSD fits perfectly fine and was easy to install but there is a lot of empty space simply for the sake of empty space thus making the device larger and thicker than it needs to be when holding it and your phone in your handThe magsafe connection works great and holds the enclosure firmly in place. One minor issue I have with this device (which you would not see under normal use with your phone) is that when you use it as an external hard drive on your other devices you notice it doesn't seal 100% and this results in a blue light shining out of the case (in my case onto my Mac Mini, thus causing me to see 2 blue lights). As stated before, the lid is held in place with a single screw so there is no way to make it seal better along an adjacent edge so I just have to live with it.TL;DR:All and all I would say it was presented very well, was very easy to inject an SSD into, sticks firmly in place on the iPhone and works perfectly well with other hardware so I have no problems recommending this product

Portable and fast storage
The ORICO AP30 is perfect for my iPhone 16 Pro Max. I can save and transfer videos and photos in seconds thanks to its USB-C connection and support for NVMe SSD. It is compact, lightweight and also works on Mac and Windows. A quick and practical solution to not run out of space.

Hace lo que tiene que hacer
El producto está bien, buen case y buen imán “MagSafe”. La única queja es que el plástico es muy barato y se siente que si se cae se revienta.

Works well for me
It sticks pretty hard to the back of my phone and it sees my 1 TB nvme I put in there, so it’s a win in my book. It does get REALLY hot though so be warned. Maybe I’ll need to experiment with better passive cooling solutions.

A Lightweight, Compact Solution for Enabling and Recording ProRes Video
I ordered the Orico Magnetic SSD Enclosure prior to ordering an NVME 2230 SSD with the thought in mind that it might provide an elegant, clean storage solution when shooting video on my iPhone. As it has turned out, unfortunately, it presents limitations that make it less than ideal, or so I thought as an initial impression. To be clear, that does not reflect on the seller’s assertions. The reason it doesn’t work out as I’d hoped, at least ideally, is that when attached magnetically to my iPhone 15 Pro Max, it blocks the filter holder on the phone cage I use; shooting video without control of ISO and shutter angle, by means of a variable ND filter, for example, makes it nearly impossible to record premium quality video. That said, the Orico presents a storage solution that is much lighter and smaller than even an external ssd, so a less-than-ideal solution is just fine. There are any number of ways to attach it to a phone cage. In fact, for performance reasons, a solution that holds the drive away from the phone may be more ideal than on it.Since I haven’t received my NVMe SSD yet, I haven’t done a speed test. However, based on the speed tests conducted by other reviewers, performance, although slightly less than the sellers claim of write speeds, in a lab, of 968 mb/s, is near enough to the performance tested in actual use, that the difference isn’t going to be noticeable. Given the advantages I anticipate of the Orico SSD Enclosure, I don’t have a problem with the discrepancy. As I’ve said, the enclosure is light; with the protective plastic cover and lanyard attached, it weighs 50gr. The included rubber coated USB-C cable appears to have gold-plated connectors, with reinforcement at each end; it appears of high-quality and durable. The plastic slip case fits tightly over the SSD housing; there isn’t anyway that the SSD is going to fall out it, it has to be peeled off. With the cable inserted through the cover and into the housing, the plastic cover cannot be removed by any normal means until the cable is taken out.Removing the enclosure cover and inserting the drive looks to be a breeze; remove a screw to expose the drive carrier, insert the drive, push down into place, stick on the adhesive backed thermal padding, and secure it that way with a single screw. Since I am using the drive off the phone, heat shouldn’t be an issue.Besides the cable, the Orico is supplied with an adhesive backed magnetic ring for use if your phone doesn’t have a Magsafe magnet built-in, two extra screws, one for securing the drive inside the case, a small screw driver needed to remove the housing cover and secure the drive screw, a small square of thermal padding and an instruction manual. For my use, writing video capture from my iPhone 15 Pro Max to the NMVE SSD, I’m anticipating a 5-Star solution from the Orico SSD enclosure. If my opinion changes after I’ve had a chance to use it, I’ll update this review. So far though, I’m liking the possibilities.
