This kit of set screws will be very useful the next time I need to replace a lost or incorrect (too long or too short or damaged) setscrew in a doorknob, tool or myriad of other things around my house. There is a nice selection of SAE and metric sizes and I particularly like the fact that they are made of stainless steel. It is a nice touch to include the Allen wrenches needed for all the screws in the set and to have each size in its own labeled drawer in individual plastic bags. I wish I had this set thirty years ago!

With this set screw kit we get a lot of screws, but only coarse threaded ones. The fine threads are missing and SAE set is missing 8-32 and 6-40 sizes. The SAE set has several sizes marked incorrectly. For example 3/16-24 screws should have been named 10-24 and 1/8-40 screws - 5-40. This is not what I want, this is how such screws are called in American standards. There is one more size included - 5/32-32, which is not listed in the US standards. Maybe it is a Chinese standard? In the metric set all sizes of the coarse threads from M3 to M8 are included.The screw quality seems to be OK. They have nicely rolled threads and included hex keys have a good tight fit to the screw sockets. The black oxide coating is the industry standard. 12.9 grade material is the strongest for metric screws and we have to believe this is what is supplied.The plastic organizers are very good for storage. Each screw size was packed in a plastic zip bag for shipping and because of that they survived the shipping very well - all screws stayed in their respective places.I would recommend the metric set, but not the SAE one. SAE set has 120 screws of a non-existing size and is missing a few important sizes.

I may never have to go looking for a set screw again. This is a very comprehensive collection of cup point SAE and METRIC set screws. You probably don't need one every day, but when you do need one it is almost always some weird length or thread that requires a trip to the hardware store. These will greatly improve my chances of having the screw I need.They are clean threaded, precisely made, high-quality screws. They will not disappoint you. This will be a great value for years to come.

If I could add a second murphy's law, it would be that the setscrew you just lost or stripped out is the only one of its kind for hundred miles around. If you think I'm kidding check out what you can get at the big box stores or your local auto shop and you find out they will either not have the size you need, or worse they'll want to sell you a pack of 25 or 50 of a size you never plan to use again. When you look at the cost of this selection, this is the cheapest insurance that you'll ever buy. Because there is a corollary to my new murphy's law that if you have this kit to make sure you have what you need just in case, you'll never strip out a set screw or lose one in grass ever again!Trust me, when it comes to keeping home equipment repair simple and swearing free, this is the kit to add to your collection. The common sizes that you'll encounter are in here along with hex wrenches to ensure you have what you need exactly when the problem arises.It's a great price for what you are getting, overall I'm extremely happy.
