I’ve had this Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 32″ 4K HDR gaming monitor on my desk for a while now (Almost 6 months!), and it really does deliver a visual experience most LCDs can’t touch — at least where it matters most. The deep, inky blacks and vivid colours are genuinely impressive thanks to the QD-OLED panel, and motion is very smooth at 240 Hz with a near-instant 0.03 ms response time, so games feel crisp and responsive. That said, a few real-world quirks and trade-offs are worth knowing before you buy. Visually, this thing shines. Watching dark games or movies in a dim room is spectacular — blacks really feel deep, and colours pop without needing aggressive calibration. It’s not just marketing speak: the contrast and clarity are next-level compared to most LCD monitors I’ve used. Text and UI elements in desktop use are sharp at 4K, and HDR performance adds another dimension when content supports it. Gaming on PC with FreeSync/PWM enabled is mostly fantastic. I didn’t notice stuttering or tearing once everything was set up, and the combination of high refresh with low latency makes both fast shooters and story games feel more immersive. For console gaming (PS5/Series X) I also saw strong results — basic HDR and VRR work is solid — but there are occasional quirks in how the unit wakes or handles smart features that can interrupt flow unless you disable a few extras. On the downside, there’s a bit more to think about than just the stunning visuals: • Brightness and reflections: In very bright rooms or near windows the panel can struggle to beat glare. Even with the anti-glare coating, it doesn’t get as bright as some flagship LCDs, so the image can feel a bit washed out in direct light. • Sleep/Wake and software oddness: A few times I’ve had the monitor not respond reliably after sleep or been forced to wake it manually — something others have mentioned online too, likely tied to firmware or VRR interplay. • OLED things to keep in mind: Like all OLEDs, there’s an inherent risk of image retention or burn-in over very long use, so if you often leave static UI elements on for hours this is worth considering (there are mitigation features, but the technology still behaves differently than LCD). • Price versus value: This is a premium screen. If you’re only using it for office work with occasional games, you might struggle to justify the price over a high-end LCD. But if visual quality and fluid motion are priorities, it’s easy to appreciate what it brings. One thing I wish it had — and this is a personal setup gripe rather than a spec issue — is native USB-C or a simpler one-cable workflow for laptops. Right now you still deal with multiple cables and adaptors, which makes a clean desk setup harder than it should be. That’s a small frustration beside how good the panel itself is, but it’s real if you’re using this as a primary display for work and play. Overall, this monitor feels like what you want from premium OLED gaming hardware: beautiful colour and contrast, excellent motion performance, and flexibility across platforms. It’s not perfect for every lighting condition or every user setup, but if you want a monitor that genuinely feels like an upgrade over traditional LCD gaming displays, this delivers on most of the key promises. Normal users might be better off with a less expensive option, but for anyone prioritising contrast, speed and immersion, I’d still recommend this — just go in with eyes open about the minor workflow and brightness limitations.

The anti-reflection coating is far, far too strong. It is extremely grainy, and bright colours do not look good at all. I have never returned a monitor in my life, and I have never noticed an anti-reflection coating this strong before. The coating is far, far too aggressive. It looks extremely grainy and makes bright colours and lighter scenes look poor. I even replaced it with the exact same model, thinking the first one must have been faulty. The replacement was identical, so this is clearly just how the screen is. I finally replaced it with an Alienware 27 Gaming Monitor (AW2725Q) and I’m much happier with it. There are no reflection issues at all.

I’m really happy with the Samsung Odyssey Gaming OLED G6 (LS27DG612SUXXU). The overall quality is excellent — the QHD resolution looks sharp at 27", and the OLED panel makes everything pop with deep blacks, rich colours, and great contrast. Games look incredible, but it’s also a joy for everyday use because the image just looks clean and “high-end”. Motion is smooth, and the screen feels responsive, which makes a big difference in fast-paced games. The build quality is solid, the design looks modern, and setup was straightforward. If you want a 27" QHD OLED monitor that feels like a real upgrade, this one delivers. Highly recommended. Edited: My room mate accidently threw the original box away, I contacted the customer service for another box, although it was not an option, they issued me partial refund which allows me to buy the box.

Top of the line excellent. Its sharp and incredibly responsive, the colours are vibrant and the blacks are true blacks. The stand is high quality the general build quality is good. Solid purchase, expect to have it for many years.

The monitor arrived well-packaged and was easy to install. It feels very sturdy and has excellent build quality. The display is excellent, with OLED offering a significantly better picture than VA or IPS panels. The controls are also well-designed. Overall, I highly recommend this monitor.

You saw the title... Matte for the WIN, while everyone else is moving to glossy OLED I enjoy matte better as reflections give me migraines after a while, matte it's easier on my eyes even if the colours don't pop as much but I'm fine with that as everything is vibrant enough for me (and I own a Samsung S95B TV) Love how sleek it is, looks very modern and being silver and white it goes well with my white PC. It's disappointing to see some quality issues here, while the monitor is well built, overall, on the connection ports they made it out of plastic instead of metal like the rest of the monitor, and they are really cheap flimsy plastic, to the point when you connect an HDMI or DP cable feels like you're breaking the monitor and feels wrong. It's 2025 Samsung WHY NOT HAVING USB-C, and WHY it's only DP 1.4 instead of 2.1... I want to love this screen so bad mostly because LOVE the picture quality, love how it looks and feels (apart from connection ports but you only plug things once and go) and was on sale so totally worth the price. I'm still debating if will be picking something else like the LG or Asus (Both the matte version) as they offers USB-C, better build quality - I have 30 days to know what will happen Not having USB-C means if I want to plug my work laptop need to use HDMI plus charger for laptop... USB-C it's only one cable and charges my laptop... don't think I can overcome that

At time of writing I've had this monitor for a smidge over two months, and it is a real treat for the eyes - I got the 32 inch screen size as I thought that would be easier on the eye... Some may complain about the matte finish, and I will say the effects of that finish ARE visible, but - something that is easily overlooked when in the heat of battle / watching your favourite streaming service, if anything that tiny bit of diffusing actually increases the value for money of the screen. The 240hz refresh rate and 0.08ms gtg response time are all you could ever need (and runs beautifully off of a Mac Mini M4 over DP 1.4 (Samsung didn't think to provide the more up to date 2.1 spec, so at 4K, 240hz DSC is in effect - not that you'll see that in real world usage) - colour accuracy is out of this world, brightness - could be brighter (when compared to LCD counterparts) however - with HDR400 (Peak Brightness medium) perfectly viewable in the daytime - functionally all I could want. The docked star? the monitors functions are controlled by a jog stick on the back of the unit. this disintegrated this morning (hence my desire to write a review) after only two months of ownership - reading around online it seems that this is a common failing for the Odyssey range of monitors - luckily the resourceful people of the world have created a 3D print model of a replacement (can be found easily through certain forums) - which works better than the original. Just a shame that Samsung don't consider that worthy of a warranty replacement (or, make it better in the first place) - this monitor has been babied - no logical reason for that to fail.
