Works great do a test before hand
Very impressed doesnt look like much actually looks like sand but Ive seen what it does after water hits it. It does blow up it almost looks like some kind of weird jellyfish thats washed up on shore but its all water stored. Its expensive but realized I used way to much per plant a teaspoon per size will do it

Good for a dry climate
I put these granules in my mailbox garden. Hopefully it prevents it from getting too dry!

Should help
A little goes a long way with this stuff. Hopefully it makes my soil moisture level even out a bit. Mine drains so fast that the top dries out quickly but if I keep it moist, the lower levels get waterlogged and some of my pepper leaves are browning

Perfect for window boxes!
Amazing for window boxes! We have some beautiful window boxes that are just under the edge of out roof so they get almost no rainwater. Every year I get flowers going in them and tell myself to remember to water them and I always start out strong, but then sure enough as we get into the summer, I drop the ball and my flowers start dying. With this stuff added it gives me so much more leeway to get them watered. You still have to water your plants, but this gives you a much bigger grace period. So helpful and easy to do for such great results. A little goes a long way too, so it's a great value, I think. New must have for me!

Great for Beginners and Inconsistent Watering Schedules
I ordered a small packet (1.5 oz) of the hydrogel watering crystals. It's perfect for aiding in moisture control for indoor, potted plants. I highly recommend mixing it evenly into your potting mix rather than having the crystals sit on top of the mix. This small packet was plenty for 2 small (4") planters, 1 medium-sized planter (6"), and 1 large monstera planter (12") with about 1 tsp leftover. There are clear instructions on the back of the packet to know how much to apply for different sized pots, though the text is very small. It's also easy to tell when the crystals are storing water versus dehydrated.

This is 1.5 ounces, enough for 3 cubic ft of soil, good for retaining moisture and nitrogen
I have done a little research on Polyacrylate and Zeolite addition to soil, and this is actually used in commercial farming to help retain water and nitrogen in soil. Funny thing is that during the composting of food waste and sawdust, you actually LOSE nitrogen, but adding this stuff can help retain that nitrogen and the compost actually decays faster using it, so that's also interesting. I do get the confusion that results from different sizes being mentioned in the description, so understand that I am reviewing the 1.5 oz packet. The packet I received was clear and easy to read, but then, I often take a photo of small print on pretty much everything, so that I can zoom in for closer detail. Certainly this would be difficult to add to existing root-bound plants, so I would advise mixing it into a bag of potting soil and then marking the bag that you've added it, using from that bag when re-potting plants. Seriously, this is good stuff, as it not only retains water but also helps hold the nitrogen for better plant growth.
