Lights

Love these as much as my hue bulbs, but maybe more because of the price point! They’re also less complicated to automate a schedule for without a bridge than the hue bulbs.

Control of the lights

Love, love love this. Just order 2 more. Give access to the lights for children who don't understand turning lights off. I also enjoy the ideal that I can adjust the brightness (cool or warmth). It is great and very easy to install.

Awesome high quality bulbs!

These bulbs are awesome we have been using them around our house for a while now they are super bright and work amazingly and having the ability to be able to change the colors is awesome and the app is super easy to use as well! Would highly recommend if you’re looking for a modern light bulb upgrade!!

Don't mix Wiz lights from multiple manufacturers

Good lights (4.5 star), somewhat hampered by lackluster software (1 star off for now).First, make sure you order the same bulb model from the same manufacturer. I previously picked up two single-bulb packs of Wiz from another manufacturer at a local home improvement store after reading reviews here. What I didn't realize at the time is that there *are* multiple manufacturers for the same "Wiz" bulb.My primary use-case for these bulbs is the master bath vanity, which has 8 lights total (4 over each sink). I went ahead and put the 2 bulbs in the center fixtures on one side and set them up.When I received this 6-pack from Amazon, I add the other bulbs in.Don't get me wrong, it *works*, but you'll notice that the bulbs are different. They come on at different speeds, have slightly different colors at *some* levels/colors, and in general behave differently. You should *definitely* go ahead and buy all from one source. I've gone ahead and ordered another 6-pack. It's probably better to have 4 extra as future replacements. If you only have "enough" to cover your use-case, you'll likely end up in a situation where you can't get the same model bulb in a few years when you need a replacement.^^^ No rating adjustment was made based on this. It's just a fact of life. The good news is that the bulbs I received from Amazon are better than the "name brand" Wiz bulbs I bought locally. They come on faster and more reliably from what I've seen so far.Now the bad news -- The app is a bit "weak". If you are just looking for simplicity, then it will be right up your ally. But there are just glaring holes for me purposes.Start with the fact that you'll need to create a group of the lights in order to control them all at one time. Great, no problem there. But once you put a light in a group, then there's no longer any way to control it individually. The "night light" mode is great for the middle of the night, but with 8 bulbs in the master bath, it's still a bit bright in the middle of the night. I wanted to create a scene with only the 2 "outside" bulbs on each vanity on, but this just doesn't appear to be possible with the Wiz v2 app. I don't think it was possible with the v1 app, but I migrated pretty quickly to v2 and there doesn't appear to be a way to go back. Once I migrated to v2, the v1 version simply exits on iOS. I could probably get around this with a full reinstall, but that's not worth it.On the bright side, I run Home Assistant for automation of other smart devices in my home, and Wiz integration with Home Assistant is pretty good. The Home Assistant page for Wiz Integration considers it to be at "platinum level" (the best possible). And Home Assistant can still control the lights individually even after grouping them, so I was able to set up a Home Assistant scene to turn the outside pair of lights to "night light", but have all the others "off".Brightness and colors seem good. I do wish they could slightly dimmer, but the three modes I plan to use the most work just fine:- True color: A nice warm setting that matches the bulbs that were previously in the fixtures. Great for morning. At some point, I might set up a slow transition so that the lights move from True Color to a brighter, cooler light over 10 minutes or so.- Daylight: The brightest, coolest setting. Great for cleaning or shaving.- Custom night-light as mentioned aboveIf you're okay with it, the reds are a bit dimmer than the orange "night light", and also (obviously) should exclude the blues that disturb rest patterns at night. That said, red isn't a very "pleasant" light, even when dim.

Fun toy.

Works as it should. Not too difficult to set up, and fun to play with.

Endless Malfunctions

I've had no end of frustration with these lights. Initially I was very pleased by the color, app control, and ease of setup. I liked the range of functions and integrations. So I ordered more than a dozen wiz lights of this and other varieties. But within a few months, the malfunctions started. And there seems to be no end in sight.Malfunction #1: I had just moved into a new house, and I wanted to re-sync the lights to connect them to a new router. Well, no matter which router network I connected to, I could not re-sync the lights to the app. I tried many hours of troubleshooting on my own, switching routers, every configuration I could think of. The Wiz app just didn't work. After more hours of troubleshooting with Wiz, they suggested I try syncing with the legacy Wiz app. That eventually fixed the issue. Clearly something is wrong if an old app can re-sync lights (only manually, one at a time, mind you, in a very slow process that takes 5 minutes per light), but cannot do so automatically or using the new, "better" app. But problems solved, eventually, right? Wrong.Malfunction #2: Only a week or so after this problem was solved, I had a new problem. Instead of starting in the setting configure by app, lights would initialize in a totally different setting - flashing randomly between different modes. The lights would eventually connect to the app, after about 5 minutes, after which they would behave properly. Clearly something was wrong. Eventually, one of the lights stopped connecting at all, and would cycle between modes endlessly, refusing to sync to the network or re-sync to the app. More hours of troubleshooting, more hoops to jump through - sending videos, removing from one fixture installing in another, taking videos, taking pictures. Eventually Wiz replaced the light.Malfunction #3: The next day, more lights start malfunctioning in a different fixture. And it seems to be a slightly different malfunction. Now the lights are stuck in the wrong mode and refuse to enter sync mode or connect to the network. Again, I am stuck in a never-ending set of requests from tech support to document the malfunction. Now I am left with a resigned expectation of endless hours spent in trouble-shooting a continuous series of failed bulbs, each one only temporarily solved with the delivery of a new short-lived replacement bulb. I'm now seeing more signs that other bulbs will fail. First there is a flicker as the bulbs are slow to initialize to the proper setting. Next wifi connectivity will be slow to establish. Then it will fail entirely. Finally, it will be impossible to re-sync the lights to the app, or even to get the lights into a sync setting. These bulbs just aren't any good. I don't know if it is the software or the hardware, and tech support doesn't seem to know either. Save yourself from my fate and find a more reliable bulb.EDIT:Malfunction #4: One of the lights is now strobing. This is a new issue in a different fixture with a different bulb. Perhaps some circuit is getting fried. Clearly the lights are prone to failure, whatever the cause. I should mention that I've still only had these lights a few months.Malfunction #5: While replacing the malfunctioning light from malfunction #4, another light started to strobe. My life is a never-ending cycle of Wiz tech support and product replacement. 6 of my original 12 A19 lights have now malfunctioned in just a few months.
