Excellent quality classical Reeds for sure. Always reliable without errors. Perfect pitch and tone produced. Nice warm vibrant sound ....... recommended for longer practicing and performance players.

Sounds great but break so easily

I'm fairly new to playing alto sax. I think these premium organic reeds are perhaps aimed at people who play in front of others. I only have the dog to appreciate my playing! My current reeds are Rico. I did a bit of research on the brand, and found out that the D'Addario brand actually own and produce the Rico reeds. That gave me more confidence in them. They come individually packaged and in plastic, which seems a bit at odds with a range that classes itself as organic. But maybe the plastic is needed to keep the unused reed in the best condition, I don't know. The sound is good, light and bright is how I could describe it. I'm sure more experienced players will be able to give a better sound review than that, but as producing a decent sound is quite new for me, I'm not yet into the nuances of depth and tone that can be produced. Would I buy them again? Probably not, but that's because I only play at home to myself. Once I become a world-renowned sax player (!!) then I would be willing to pay a little more. At the moment I am happy with the slightly cheaper Rico ones and experimenting with other brands on the market. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these though if you would like an organic good quality reed.

I usually play a strength 3 Reed so was a bit apprehensive about trying a whole box of 2.5s. However I put one of these on and it sang beautifully. Easy to tongue a low Bb at ppp but equally holds its own on top F#. The attack is good and precise but I found it squeaks on occasions. This will be easy to adjust and I can always clip the tip to add a bit of strength. I played whole evening with good dynamics and a clear tone but feel the Reed will lot last that long. As well as a clear tone, I also felt like I had a clear conscience and I never consider that bamboo was grown using pesticides, herbicides and synthetic fertiliser. I just though naively that bamboo was naturally organic. So it’s admirable that D’addario claim these to be the first certified organic reed and it does make you feel more responsible as a saxophonist. However these reeds come at a price. 50% more than the non organic Reserve reeds to be exact and although I haven’t compared, I bet they play exactly the same. So no real incentive other than ones conscience to go organic and does it really cost 40% more to make these reeds? I like also that these reeds have no markings on the mouthpiece side which makes them lie flatter on the mouthpiece. I tend to shave the back side with my reedgeek anyway but I somehow feel the back should be totally flat for a better seal. Finally I like that they come in cardboard sleeves (no plastic) but they are individually wrapped with plastic film. I’m not sure if this is necessary. Remember when reeds cam in boxes with three parallel loose reeds separated by paper packing from the next three? Overall opinion is yes these are very nice reeds but the jury is out in whether the cost justifies the fact they are organic.

These are the best reeds for jazz and classical playing. They are made of 100% organic cane and produce a sound that is rich, smooth, and responsive. I love using these reeds because they are so easy to play and they never break. I have been using these reeds for years and I have never had to buy any replacements. These are the reeds to buy, they are a product that I use on a daily basis and I would recommend them to anyone, they are the best. These reeds are made of 100% organic material. I love that they are environmentally friendly and that they sound so amazing! I am so happy I found a reeds with a sweet and mellow tone, which is perfect for me. This is a great reed because they are organic and they are a 3.5 strength so they are great for beginners or people who need a lower strength. I am really impressed by how well these reeds hold up. They are the only organic reeds on the market, which is a huge selling point, and I love that D'Addario is a company that I can trust. I would recommend these reeds for anyone looking for a great reed for an affordable price.

Delivered in their own branded box Inside the box there are individually sealed wrapped saxophone reeds for 2.5 Alto Sax . These are the perfect fit for my grandsons Saxophone , however they do seem to be extortionately priced at £44 for the box , yes they are organic but does that really justify this . In my opinion not ! A reed is a reed ( aren't most reeds natural ? ) , it's expensive enough constantly buying replacements so when I can't really find much difference between these and ones I buy in our local music supply store at £6.99 I'm not going to recommend

These reeds are well made and and you can tell they are good quality straight out of the box. They sound good enough for my non expert ears and fit well. I’m not sure why they need to be organic but it’s nice to know they are doing a small part to help the environment where they can. Overall these are quality reeds, maybe not the cheapest you can get but they do sound good to me. I’d definitely get some again if found at a reasonable price.

Although these reeds are not cheap by any standards, they are still worth the money. I'm still only a beginner with the sax, but I can tell that these are a cut above your average reed. The fact that they are organic is a brilliant selling point too. I can't talk about longevity because I haven't had them long enough, but assuming they last for a month or so each with a reasonable amount of paying, I'd be happy. Anything less than that and they would lose one star.
