If you work on engines or plan on starting, I will definitely recommend this piston ring installation tool. It makes life so much easier in the event you're working on a engine with multiple Pistons. Or even just one. it adjusts from roughly six inches down to about an inch and a half as far as I can tell, and grips the piston along with the ring to make installation nice and smooth.

Getting ready to rebuild a motorcycle engine, realized my piston ring compressor was too big. This little guy is going to work great. Compact in size, adjusts (and releases) easily. Going to be just the thing to tackle that itchy little step in the process. Very happy with its value.
