Fashion Embroidery: Embroidery Techniques and Inspiration for Haute-Couture Clothing

This book contains sewing work I could only aspire to. Still, I love it. It IS inspiring and I am trying new types of sewing as a result. I’m happy to have it in my sewing and embroidery book collection.

The media could not be loaded. Great full color photos with the first half being examples of fashion embroidery with explainations of the type use for the effect, the second half goes over how to hold the hook, make the stitch, cast on and cast off. It goes over several 3D applications and fabric prep. It does not go into detail about framing or stretching fabric.Great book for ideas of what tambour can do in textiles.

i love the writing style and gorgeous images of this book. one of my fave buys lately!

Solid Embroidery book, however I was expecting some instruction on how to do the many runway Embroidery looks they feature in the book. You will be shown none. Instead the book focuses more on the general art of Embroidery and aims to teach you how to embroider. It’s a great book as I stated but I just wanted information on the looks they display

Beautiful book for beginners to get you inspired and started with embroidery.Techniques are clearly explained and showed step by step in large quality color photos.

Overall I think this book is an okay book, I took off two stars though because it is missing some things. 1.) More pictures were needed to fully show how to complete the techniques. The book is aimed at beginners but a beginner would not be able to pick up this book and complete their first design from it. 2.) There were no actual embroidery design included with the book to get you started I feel giving a design/ designs to start off with would have been a nice addition to the book as so much of it, basically is talking about the supplies you will need to get started.I am a newbie at embroidery and felt the book did educate me on its many applications and material to get from the store to start off, as well I learned some stitches and knots, but I have to say for the stitches I did have to reference a couple of YouTube video's to see the full effect. Overall though I am not unhappy with the purchase just wish it would have been polished a little more.
