Easy to use, works as advertised. I have tried it with both m.2 2280 and a small 2230. It works great. Keeps the ssd from over heating and is fast. Very easy to install and use. Would definitely recommend for anyone needing portable or extra storage.

Perfect, Instant Housing for a High-Speed NVMe SSD
I needed an enclosure that could handle the blistering speeds of my new Samsung 990 EVO SSD while keeping my workflow portable. The key requirement was simple: it had to be reliable for demanding tasks like video editing and music production. Installation: Truly Tool-Free and Instant The SABRENT USB 3.2 Type-C Tool-Free Enclosure (EC-SNVE) lived up to its name perfectly. The installation was truly a matter of seconds. Zero Hassle: No tiny screws, no specialized tools, and no fiddling required. I simply opened the housing, inserted the M.2 NVMe drive, and slid the cover back on. The entire process took less than a minute. Secure Fit: Despite the tool-free design, the drive sits securely inside, giving me confidence that my valuable assets are protected. Performance: The Ultimate Bridge This enclosure acts as a perfect bridge, ensuring that the incredible speed of the Samsung 990 EVO is fully utilized by the USB 3.2 Type-C connection. High-Demand Use: I use this enclosure to house the drive that stores all my APFS-formatted video project files and assets. It maintains a consistent, high-speed connection that is essential for real-time editing on my Macs. There is zero throttling, and the speed is equivalent to an internal drive. Compatibility: The fact that it supports both PCIe NVMe and SATA SSDs makes it a versatile choice for anyone looking to repurpose old drives or install the latest high-performance models. The Final Verdict When choosing an enclosure for a premium drive, you want convenience without sacrificing performance or safety. The Sabrent EC-SNVE delivers on all counts. If you need a simple, durable, and lightning-fast home for your M.2 SSD, this enclosure is the definitive choice. No complaints whatsoever.

WORKS!
First and foremost, it works as advertised! Just plug an M2 SSD in, close the door, connect to computer, use windows Disk Management tool, configure the SSD, DONE. Afterwards, it shows as an external drive. It's got an external aluminum body which makes it sturdy and works as a heat sink. As such, it gets warm to the touch which is to be expected. It's about 4-5/8" (11.7 cm) long and 1-1/4" (3.2 cm) width and 1/2" (1.2 cm) thick, so it's very small and portable, and so MUCH more convenient than a common USB memory stick. It comes with a small USB-C to USB-C cable. Tested on my HP laptop with USB 3, I get 523 MB/s sequential read speed 192 MB/s write. This of course depends on so many things that it's only useful to show that it works fast. Your conditions can be much better or much worse. Be sure to use a USB 3 port for maximum speed.

Perfect Tool-Free Solution for Expanding Boot Storage – No Heat Hassle, Just Works
Perfect Tool-Free Solution for Expanding Boot Storage – No Heat Hassle, Just Works I needed more space on my boot drive, but my motherboard only has one M.2 PCIe NVMe slot. So I replace it with a 1TB NVMe. The SABRENT EC-SNVE aluminum USB 3.2 Type-C enclosure was exactly what I wanted — no thermal pads, tape, or paste to fuss with. Unboxing & Setup (5/5): The hardest part? Peeling off the plastic wrap — seriously. The tool-free design is brilliant: slide open the aluminum shell, drop in the M.2 (NVMe or SATA), lock the clip, slide it shut. Done in under 30 seconds. No screws, no thermal goo, no guessing. Performance & Build: Connected via USB-C and immediately hit ~1000 MB/s read/write (matching my internal NVMe speeds). The brushed aluminum body acts as a heatsink — stays warm but never hot, even during large file transfers or cloning. Feels premium, not cheap plastic. Cloning & Repurposing: Used Macrium Reflect to clone my 500GB boot drive to a 1TB NVMe, expanded the partition, then swapped them. System booted without issue. Why This Over Others? Truly tool-free • Aluminum = better heat dissipation • Supports both NVMe AND SATA M.2 • USB 3.2 Gen 2 = full 10Gbps • Worth every penny. If you want a no-drama, high-quality enclosure that just works — buy this one. Highly recommended for anyone repurposing internal NVMe or SATA M.2 or building fast external storage.

Lightning fast. Setup in minutes, iPhone compatible
Works like a charm for everything i need! Popped a 2TB WD Nvme and although my computers dont have USB4 ports, Im still getting literally 4x the speeds i was getting with my old Passport eHDD. It was even plug n play with my iPhone 16 Pro Max so I can record apple prores/log video! Phone automatically detects the SSD and allows you to record RAW video straight to the drive and transfers 2GB/sec which is insane to me. I cant imagine i'll need anything faster for quite some time. The fan is not silent of course, but overall for what it is, its compact, portable and FAST

Works well and love that it is "tool free"
Very satisfied with this Sabrent m.2 enclosure... the fact that it is tool free to swap out the m.2 drives is great for anyone that needs to do so. It would have been nice if they included a usb-a to usb-c cable (they only include usb-c to usb-c) but fortunately for me I have several usb-a to usb-c cables from other enclosures that I can use. The enclosure feels solid and so far (for the past 6+ months), it has been working well.

The best enclosure for ssd's!
This enclosure is perfect. I put a 2TB SSD in it and I use it to store Steam games and photos/videos/documents/etc. I've used it everyday for 4 months and have had no issues. Very easy to use, takes up very little space, makes no noise, data transfer is very fast. It gets warm, but doesn't get too hot. If you need an SSD enclosure, this is the one you should buy. It's perfect.

One of the better M.2 enclosures
I've bought several of these over the years and have never regretted the purchases. Everything from booting a Raspberry Pi from NVMe, to imaging NVMe drives ... I have zero regrets or complaints. These things just work, and they work with both PCIe and SATA drives. Connectivity has never been an issue, and depending on the cable used you can plug it into a USB-C host or a USB-A Host (USB-C being faster). They're made of metal, and are lightweight and durable. Definitely recommend...
