glad I got this & didn’t give up on it
My first epilating was with the attachment for the Iluminage Touch, which was AWFUL. (My natural hair color is strawberry blonde, so for it to actually work I needed to wax or epilate. I am absolutely terrible at waxing and it is so messy). Epilating is pretty much foolproof and not messy. After a handful of tries with the Iluminage attachment and getting frustrated, I did some online recon and got this one. Actually wishing I got the more expensive one with the swivel head, but I didn’t want to invest that kind of money on something I was worried I might abandon. This was immediately a million times better than a ‘cheap’ crappy epilator However, no way around it, your first time is going to HURT LIKE A MF-ER imo not *so* bad that you’ll be like “nope, never again” But it hurts a surprising amount. Even if you’re expecting pain, it is still a surprising amount of pain. It’s extremely brief though, such an odd sensation. After a very small patch it’s like JFC I gotta stop. But then within minutes you’re like, well nothing hurts so let’s try again <repeat> Down closer to the ankles hurts the most as far as legs go. Armpits hurt the most overall for me. Even more than the bikini line. Heck, my ankle area hurt more than the bikini line (specifically on the thighs. I haven’t braved much of the nether region yet). I did brave my rump cheeks though :’) and that was a breeze surprisingly enough! I see why butt tattoos are popular, they probably hurt way less than the one I got. Eventually when the hair grows back, it is DRAMATICALLY easier ^_^ Some spots it did kinda feel like a spicy electric razor; honestly I think those were hairs the Iluminage broke off instead of actually pulled out, so it was their “first time” but they were few and spaced out which makes all the difference. Just don’t try to do this if you have any fast approaching deadline, you will *definitely* need to take your time with it. I chipped away at 1 leg over the course of days. Then the next leg over a few days. My first armpit took WEEKS to get 100% done. What I’ve learned from my left armpit, if you’re especially patient and also extremely sensitive to pain, if you shave first and then just do a little as it starts to grow back enough, shave the rest of the area and repeat over and over again - that’s gotta be the most you can reduce the pain. Since the hairs grow back at different speeds, you aren’t getting the full brunt of ALL of them being ripped out at once. That’s going to take ages if you’re doing your whole body that way, and I don’t have that kind of patience and I didn’t find it overwhelmingly painful. Just had to take a lot of breaks, a lot of “calling it a day” and just keeping at it daily until it was all done. Now that THAT phase is over, I wish I discovered this years ago!! I would get horrible razor burn on my upper thighs, that would last until the stubble was back. I never wore shorts, hated swimming even with the bathing suits that have the little skirt. There was the little red dots the first time epilating, but it cleared up in about 24 hours, and each time epilating the little red dots got less and less and cleared up faster. I have hyperpigmentation in my armpits and inner upper thigh area, and already noticing that starting to get better! Surprising perk. There have been a few ingrown hairs but not any gross painful ones, and that’s probably my fault for not having a quality exfoliating scrub or a dry brush when I started this. I strongly disliked how shaving made my showers take longer, wasting water, wasting time. I’m also trying to get nice, split-end-free hair and taking a faster shower helps with that. So pro tips from my journey with this, get a decent dry brush and use it on your non-shower days, followed up with a gentle moisturizer. On your shower days, use a quality scrub like any of the popular ones at Sephora. They’re worth the money, the cheaper ones don’t hold a candle to sol de Janeiro bum bum body scrub, KP bump eraser, etc. And again moisturizing after the shower. My legs and armpits are smoother than ever and stay that way for sooo long. It’s still really trippy. 10/10 better than shaving or waxing :D

Fast, Effective, and Quieter Than Expected
I’ve tried several epilators over the years, and the Braun Silk-épil 7 really stands out. It removes hair quickly and efficiently—most areas were smooth after just a couple of passes, which saved a lot of time compared to other models I’ve used. One of the biggest surprises was the noise level. While epilators aren’t silent, this one is noticeably quieter than most, making the process much more comfortable overall. The pain level was also very manageable, especially with regular use. I also really appreciate the variety of attachments. They’re easy to swap out and make the device versatile for different areas and preferences. The build quality feels solid, and it’s comfortable to hold and maneuver. Overall, this is a high-quality epilator that delivers excellent results with less noise and effort. I’m very happy with it and would absolutely recommend it.

Expected better results for the price
Update 1/2025: Over the four years I've used this, I've grown to appreciate it for what I can use it for which is my whole bikini area (including perineum) and underarms. Still no bueno on the legs and arms and it may be because the hairs are finer, I'm left stubbly. Still very painful on the bikini area but after an hour or two hour bath and some coconut oil to moisturize before getting in the bath, it's not as painful. Instead of once a month, I'll epilate once a week or two since fewer, shorter hairs are less painful and takes just a few minutes. I still get angry at this thing for causing pain but I'm left with smooth underarms (epilator doesn't hurt as much in this area) and ladybits. I'll probably buy another. +Easy to use +Decent charge time and holds a charge for weeks when not in use +The pain is tolerable once the skin gets kind of numb to the pain (takes me a few minutes) +I don't use it but I appreciate the option to use it under water +Easy and comfortable to hold +It can be used for the lady bits and perineum. I removed all of the hair. It hurts but I numb the skin using the massaging head and then going back over without any attachments. No irritation or ingrowns -It hurts but for the bikini area, I do prefer this to waxing (waxing leaves my skin tender) -For the hundred bucks I paid for this, I'm highly disappointed in the fact it does not pull hair from the root. It breaks it -On my legs and arms there's stubble no matter what so I have to go back to razors for a touchably smooth finish -The hairs fly everywhere -If the hair is too long it gets caught under the blade -So many passes need to be made just to achieve stubble status and that's where it becomes time consuming (& ultimately a waste of money) I'm keeping it because it for some reason works ok on my pubic area and the hair has grown back slower there. Ingrown hairs are a tiny problem for the arms and legs, I may have seen three total. Stubble still showed up a few days later, maybe sooner on the private area but it wasn't itchy or too prickly. I just see no benefit using it on my arms/legs when they won't be smooth and it did nothing to make my strawberry legs less noticeable.

Great product!
I bought this to replace the previous version I bought years ago. My go to brand, lasts a long time and gets the job done. This is my second one… pretty sure I’ve had the other one for over 5 years… definitely worth the price and waaaay cheaper than getting legs sugared every few months. TIP: If you’re new to epilating, use the skin guard that is provided until you’re used to sensation, then you can transition to the open guard. Skin guard should be used on armpits due to extra skin. Trim hair using clippers with guard that is provided BEFORE epilating… I use this on arms, legs, armpits and bikini line.

It's a BIG DEAL if I'm writing a review
(Just for reference, I am a 28 year old woman with fair skin and blonde/light brown body hair) I'd be doing everybody a disservice if I didn't express how absolutely LIFE CHANGING this device is. I bought this 2 weeks ago and have barely seen any hair growth since. I had used an epilator years ago and was terrified at the thought of using one again. It feels exactly how you'd think each hair being tweezed out of your skin all at once would feel. I could say my pain tolerance is higher than average. The initial reaction you have to it WILL go away and it will get more comfortable as you use it. For the first 4-ish days, I used it everyday, that's how addictive it is. Also, each hair follicle grows differently, so I tried to get as many missed hairs as I could. I used it on stubble that was about 1/8 inch long. Yes, it hurts, but after the first round you do, its practically painless. It feels good sometimes which was definitely the biggest plot twist for me. The more you do it, the easier it gets. I promise. I never did well with bikini/brazilian waxes. That is pain like none other. Like I said, I have a pretty high pain tolerance. If you're planning on using it for your bikini area, brazilian, or even armpits (areas with a course-er hair), listen up. TAKE. A FEW HITS. BEFORE THE FIRST TIME YOU TRY IT. I literally had to get high to get myself into a mindset where I won't think too much about it. Slowly but surely, I did the full brazilian and it was not as bad as you may think. *If you're doing anything down there, use it with the grain first, then gradually move diagonally until its going against the grain. This leaves the least amount of hair to be removed against the grain, which causes the most pain* A big tip I can give everyone is to use it in every way your hair could possibly grow. I personally go against the grain, with the grain, side to side, and even diagonal on any area I use it on. Pros: No shaving = no bumps and no burning. Haven't noticed any ingrowns Rechargeable and holds a charge for a long time Small, which is perfect if you don't have much space like I do Easy to clean- comes with a small brush to clean the head out Can be used wet OR dry (I use it dry which means I don't need to be in the shower for a long time) Cons: Painful for a lot of people Skin is left a little red for a few hours after That I haven't used this before To summarize, it is worth the price. I recc. to anyone who have had bad waxing or shaving experiences. I also recc. to the other people who have fallen victim to IPL-machines. You'll see more effective results after just a few uses of this epilator than you will with any at-home "permanent" hair removal method. I wish I bought this sooner. Do not be scared to try it! Like I said, I very rarely ever take time to write a real review of an impulse purchase. I promise if you're on the fence, just try it out.

It’s an adventure
I started on this epilator journey several months ago. The main reason for the journey is that I was going to a five day music festival, where I would be camping and wearing very little clothing for the world to see all my most secret parts. One night I was in nothing but pasties, a thong, and a mesh dress. I did not want to be worried with shaving and hair maintenance everyday. I have dark, thick, course hair. Shaving everyday also irritates my skin. I had considered waxing, but that’s very expensive and I couldn’t do any maintenance myself. I did end up at the waxer for one area which I will explain later. One thing I did before starting this journey was I also stocked up on lidocaine cream. Before my first round on any area, I put on lidocaine and let it sit for 40min to an hour. The extra time does make a difference. The first epilation is the most painful, so I wanted to help it a little. That being said, it still hurts, and I have a high pain tolerance. If you are a wussy, not sure anything will help. Legs: I started on my legs. And by I, I mean I made my husband start on my legs. I didn’t do any area on my own the first time. You can’t psych yourself out if someone else does it. Anyway, it hurt, but not unbearable. I did several rounds over the next several days to get any stray hair. After the initial run, it is not at all painful. It only hurts the closer you get on the upper thigh to your lady parts. The nice thing is, once the hair starts to grow back, it comes in at different times, so it’s never like the first time where you are doing a ton of hair at once. I epilate my legs about once a week. You will have to shave any of the baby hairs that the epilator can’t get, but I just do that after I epilate. It’s only my upper thighs that get the baby hairs. I also do it all myself now which my husband is grateful for. Armpits: Holy mother of sweet baby Jesus. I would rather give birth again than epilate my armpits for the first time. Even with lidocaine, it was awful. I had to have my husband help with several rounds over several days. I stuck it out after how much I enjoyed my legs, though. The not having to worry about it everyday, the lack of itching from regrowth, and it’s better for your skin than waxing, all made me want to tough it out. I am so glad I did. Like my legs, I just check for an regrowth about once a week and take care of it. There is only minor pain. Like plucking your eyebrows. The Vag: Nope. Just nope. So, I lidocained for an hour, and then I had my husband start on the area near my c-section scar since I am pretty numb there, anyway. He got about three hairs and I said NOPE. We were only a few days away from our trip by the time I decided to make my way to that area. I made a waxing appointment, which obviously still hurts, but it’s a different beast. BUT, from there I have been able to maintain the regrowth on my bikini area and upper vag area. It is like the armpits where it stings but not like being stabbed with a million knives like the first time. The area nearer the taco and the taco meat is still a nope. Plus it is hard to get in the tighter spaces and kind of gross too. I go every six weeks for a butt strip wax and have them do the areas I can’t get. I shave in between those if needed. Again, it is all worth it for no itchiness/skin irritation and how long I can go without stressing it. My husband repeatedly talks about how much he loves the smoothness. I maintain the bikini and upper area probably once a week, sometimes I ignore it for two weeks. Pros: No itching from regrowth No skin irritation - you may get little red bumps but they go away within a few hours. Maintenance is infrequent Cons: Getting through the first epilation Other hints: Epilating after a warm shower and exfoliating while in the shower makes epilation easier and slightly less painful.

Bad for men. false advertised product...
Okay lets break down this product. 1, for an $ 80 product it comes with a very bad instruction manual. ( you have to go to a salon just to learn how to us it correctly. and even then it works poorly) 2. This company did absolutely 0 research on men who have to get rid of hair.. and it's in the billions: won't work on men hair types.... and yes there is minor differences between men hair and women hair. 3. Pain is always involved: ( any one who says other wise is false adverting) however, the Pluck factor is absolutely horrid. i can single-tweezer better and faster. speed 1 and 2 makes no difference in pluck factor. pain factor is a 5-10 depending on the area. 4. battery life is horrid. 1 full charge can't even do a leg or half a face.... 5. tests: to get smooth. facial hair of various lengths. including shortest, it said it could pluck. # of passes on speed 1 : 50: pain level 7... skin irritation/ red: facial burn= bad sun burn... speed 2: 100: pain level 10... skin irritation/ red: facial burn= bad sunburn... won't even pluck at the shortest length: my hair root starts shaft growth: 4 mm under the skin: leg hair: vibration causes leg muscle spasms at any speed hair has to be trimmed. speed 1: pain level 6 speed 2: pain level 8 It's surprising it took only 3 passes to get smooth. but each pass is about an hour in-between won't pull coarse hairs.. chest: won't pluck at any length just causes pain and skin damage too coarse or fine... 6 or whatever: i think most of the 5* reviews are faked. or these people have the exact type of hair required for these tweezer plates. its a bad over priced product.... most of the attachments don't even work as listed. Id ask for a full refund but the time for such is long past... this product sorely needs a better guide pluck comb Notes: the hairs this device will pluck have to be a certain mm thickness and hair type... these types won't pluck. ( using lamens terms i don't know the medical/ cosmology types) a 2mm thick hair will not pluck. animal whisker hair ( its a type of human hair= usually has no pigment and feels like a cat whisker hense its name )= no go Sensory follicles ( they usually grow 2- 4 mm under the skin first. blackish pigment and wiry usally)= no pluck Irish, Polish, German, Israelite ancestor hair (red or black in pigment usually) ( again it's a genetic type of hair: not actually only in these people )= no pluck due to its courses and thickness neuron bulb hair( its a hair that has white root bulb with long withoilsilicone like substance on the part that grows under the skin= it cause extreme pain and some bleeding when plucked... it is also electro- static conductive-ness) ( no pluck)

Loved it! Until…
I’ve had my epilator for about 2-3 months now and have never used on my legs due to being scared of having a bad reaction. I’ve watched and read how to properly prepare and use the epilator to prevent ingrowns and any bad reaction when I used on my arms or bikini line and thighs BUT when I finally used it on my legs last night I had a completely bad experience. Instead of usually waxing my legs or just shaving, I chose to epilate them. GOD NO. I regret it so much. It didn’t pluck all the hair but broke it at the skin and, as you can see in my picture I attached above, that’s the reaction I got. Typically I used a SA lotion to help and am trying to see what can help treat my legs but I wouldn’t recommend using the epilator on your legs especially if you have sensitive skin. As for my arms, thighs, and bikini line, I had no problem other than a little redness and some ingrowns but it’d go away overnight. My legs look like cancerous herpes 😭😭😭 I don’t think I’ll epilate my legs again but hopefully this helps anyone with their experience and if you’re looking to buy an epilator. Other than that the epilator works great and I loved it until it did this to me last night haha. Be safe girls! UPDATE JULY 2022: It’s been a couple days since I went to the hospital to get my folliculitis treated and it got severe. Now I love the epilator, but this kind of reaction is painful as hell, mind my language, and I couldn’t walk for two days. It’s now Tuesday night and it’s healing but it isn’t pretty. I went in on Saturday the 23rd (July ofc). I’ll attach some pictures to show my reaction over the days but don’t let my review concern you too much when buying this epilator. It’s great but you HAVE to be careful and take the right precautions. As for the pictures, it’s in order from the beginning (the 22nd) to as of the current condition (the 26th) and it’s not pretty but you can see it’s purple-like-bruised appearance :,,,,) Now I’m just sharing my experience but PLEASE be careful ladies. **THE PICTURES ARE NOT IN ORDER AFTER THEY UPLOADED MY REVIEW AND ARE RANDOM, BUT YOU CAN SEE HOW THEY STARTED AS PINKISH-RED-LIKE-PIMPLES TO REALLY DARK PURPLE SORES WITH PUSS** UPDATE OCTOBER 2023: Hi! Just figured I’d leave another update as I haven’t said how long it actually took to heal. Folliculitis was hell when I had this reaction from the epilator. And honestly I haven’t used it in over a year since that reaction. If anything I strongly suggest waxing or shaving. Strawberry legs/hair texture is totally okay and normal! Nothing to be insecure of whatsoever, especially if you’re trying to avoid having a bad reaction like I did. OR you can try a magic hair eraser where it’s painless and a little time consuming but all you do is rub the “magic eraser” in circular motions (I have one for my arms and legs when I don’t want to wax) :) I have tried a lot of things, not NAIR, and probably will never do because of my sensitive skin, but I really suggest no one to ever use an epilator. It’s way more efficient to wax and is a lot quicker (plus you can make your own; I make my own sugar wax and it’s amazing). This is just my personal opinion, but an epilator is so easy to go wrong and it doesn’t pull the hair from the root either. No matter what anyone says, it’s NOT that effective. Everyone has different hair textures and color too, so people with more coarse and dark hair would notice the flaws this product has when using compared to people with light and fine hairs. If you proceed to buy this, it’s probably better to use just for fine hairs like on your arm. Probably don’t use it for your bikini/pubic area as moisture can make it easy to get folliculitis, ingrowns, or irritation. As for healing from my folliculitis, it took almost a whole year for the scaring to go back to normal. Summer of 2022 I wasn’t able to wear shorts at all because of my cancerous herpe looking legs. 😂😭 I had to wear loose pants and obviously the doctors prescribed me some medicine to help for when I first had it. I still use an SA lotion due to the fact that my hair follicles were extremely irritated and ruined from folliculitis, and I am now very prone to getting ingrown hairs (I get them a lot compared to before I had folliculitis). I really hope no one goes through what I did. It was super painful for the first couple months and I was super insecure. It really hurt while walking and standing up, and doctors even told me my case was the worst they’ve seen in person. If you’ve read all of this I really hope you don’t get an epilator and use any other method if you have sensitive skin or thick coarse hairs. Please be sure to look into it before buying. I did for almost half a year before buying, and have looked at other options or methods and still got a super bad reaction even though I am educated with skin care. Your hair is normal and I hope no one ever goes through something as painful as I did :)
