Way harder to install than what it’s shown. Tedious. Screws too long and puncture what’s left of door after shaving the top to fit the hardware

Yeah so, this is like the Magic 2 Door hardware. You need to do a bunch of research and then some more. My contractor wanted nothing to do with this. What they don't show is how to cut the actual solid wood door. Adding the hardware is not the tough part. Cutting that section out on the top of the door, and then using a router tool to get the exact, and I mean EXACT cut into the wood for the bottom track, is 90% of the project. Now I know why the original company (do they have a patient) call it MAGIC.

I feel in love with this style of door after seeing something similar done. The big note to keep in mind is that the wheels on the floor are doing a lot of the work so you will need level solid flooring. Do not expect this to work on carpet or an older home with refinished or wonky floors. That is not a comment on the hardware but a limitation of the way this works. Overall I would recommend this if you know what you are getting into and that it may be more advanced than your regular 'i want a barn door' diyer would want to undertake. I felt capable and got to work and it still took a little while to get the door, floor, and wall prepped for this project. Well worth it imo though.

Everything in the kit is great quality and heavy duty. Installation took about 2 hours. I had to cut a notch out the top of my existing door along the whole top to fit the mechanism. It's mostly hidden once installed. It looks really good and functions perfectly. It seems like it's going to last. The price isn't bad considering the quality is so good.

Having a barn-door slider has completely changed how we experience the bathroom where it opens. The old door opened into the small room, banging into stuff in the way. This hardware allows for a beautiful look and more spacious feeling.
