Collins Practice — COLLINS MENTAL MATHS: Ages 8-9 Paperback – 5 Dec. 2011

The media could not be loaded. These are great little learning / maths books. Really different to a normal maths book where you usually only get adding a subtracting sums. This has a bit of everything and general maths related questions including clocks/time and more. I’m saving it for my 8 year old for when we go on holiday as an extra activity. I purchased one for his little brother too but a different age range, Really pleased.

Bought this along with 2 in the same series for different ages for my granddaughters. They are perfect and what is more they like them. Very fast delivery even at Christmas - no it wasn't a Christmas present - but still they do ask to do one. Very good layout not exactly the same layout as the Y6 SAT but its very easy to add timings etc. Well worth the money, and much cheaper than anywhere else.

Simple yet effective reinforcement of maths skills. Ideal to use whilst away from home or as a supplementary resource, there is not enough of an explanation or sufficient activities in the book for the child to learn a new concept from this book alone. As that it is not why I purchased it, I am still more than happy.

It is an easy to use booklet, my daughter loved filling in the chart at the front to map her progress. It really drove her on. There are a couple of areas that perhaps she missed, or that they haven't covered yet in her school that I was able to then explain to her. It was very satisfying watching her progress through the book getting the concepts that she knew, right, as well as learning additional ones. She enjoyed the book and it didnt seem like extra work, she often wanted to do more than one page each day. The only downside is the terminology, it did take an explanation in other words for her to grasp the concept sometimes.

I love this range of Collins books and have been using them for years with my kids. They cover all mathematical strands and act as a useful consolidation tool of concepts they have covered in school.

Has been really helpful with helping my daughter to work on her maths at home to help consolidate the learning at school.

Great help to me for home schooling during lockdown. My son is enjoying using it and take the pressure of us both to make things varied.

does what it says on the tin, simple upper KS1 maths. nice and clear with answers in the back.
