This is an interesting read into the life of factory workers. The exploitation of labour and enslavement of workingmen by the capitalists depicted here stands true even today.The story revolves around a woman, her miserable life as a wife, her unconditional love for her son, and her transformation from a fearing wife and a doting mother to a mother who cares not just for her son, but for all socialists who fight against the power hungry capitalists.The happenings are real and the characters evolve with the proceedings and make a strong impact. The character arc of the Mother is unbelievably real and takes its time to evolve. Gorky a staunch socialist , reading about his life made me read this . I mean the man literally shot himself depressed with harsh life he lived since childhood but he lived somehow and we have his books with us now..

A must read book for novel lovers. This book is truly a inspiration story for many of us.
