Jet pack that didn't fly well
The device came well protected. Package included everything the listing said. I was surprised by the size of the device. It seemed to work really well, but unfortunately the rural area I live in is not covered. That's the only drawback.

Warning: Buy this and you buy a lot of Problems!
This is NOT a good choice. Read the reviews on the internet about the problems with this model. This thing FILLED it's sim card all by itself in 2 hours of use and burned up 4 gigs of my 5 gig data plan in just 2 hrs of very low end data use! Then it tells you there is an 'alert' with no way of determining what the alert is about, unless you set up a myVerizon account. Then you find out the alert is about the filled-up sim card, even though you have no messages or anything else you put on that sim card. The reviews for this go back years detailing the exact problems I had with this 'thing'. Sent it back for a refund! Glad to be rid of it! Absolutely wasted my time and money. I went to a Verizon Internet Gateway with unlimited data, and so far so good.

Don't Trust that Sketchy Public WiFi!
This Netgear JetPack is Verizon branded, but will work with other carrier SIM cards as well. Straightforward operation, and up to large room-sized range. I tested it with my Verizon subscribed SIM, and also with a PAYG service - Mint Mobile. Both work as expected, though with the non-Verizon SIM, the JetPack would not check for updates. I had to use the Verizon SIM to verify that the 2018 firmware was "up to date". It is old tech and limited to 4G speeds. Surely not the best for streaming and large-file downloads, but I had no problems pulling 2-3 bars of solid 4G signal at a site which has been notoriously hard to get any signal at all for some devices. Power consumption is reasonable, with three settings for the "size" or reach of your WiFi hotspot. Obviously the farther you project, the more battery you use. The widest setting gave me a usable WiFi connection in the next room - maybe 25'-30' away. But then it's not meant to be used as a "home" WiFi, so I figure that's adequate. Using the JetPack right next to my laptop at low range gave me full bars WiFi for about 3 hours browsing (mostly research and PDF document downloads), and I still had between 70-80% battery left. It comes with two batteries and two antennae, plus a charger cable and power cube, and a bag - though the bag will fit only the JetPack with the antennae installed and not much more. A Verizon SIM was also provided, but I did not use it. Just be careful opening the battery cover. On my initial attempt to open it, I managed to snap off one of the ears - though it doesn't seem to have affected the case staying on in any way. While it's no speed demon at only 4G - it is a worthy addition to my laptop to grab a quick secure connection so I don't have to worry about using sketchy public or hotel WiFi for private logins to my own hosted email or banking websites.

Perfect kit for mobile work, antennae might need to be a little stronger physically
My father was recently hospitalized and I wound up staying there nearly all day and all night, but had a need to be able to work remotely while he was asleep after surgery or otherwise resting. My phone's hotspot (AT&T) did not cut it as the reception was terrible in the room and the speeds were slow. And I did not want to use the slow hospital wifi, even with a VPN. Enter Verizon - and this kit had not just the hotspot I needed but antennae to boost the signal, a case, and an extra battery that made remote work smooth sailing. My only issue is that one of the antennae became a little too loose after a few times when I needed to pack up and remove them before putting everything in the case - and one of them would not stay in after a few uses. Other than that, this was just what I needed - video calls and audio calls were perfect, as were uploads of large files.
