Le Creuset Stoneware Canister with Wood Lid, 22 oz. (4" diameter), Oyster

I had read many mixed reviews about the lid not staying on the canister, but decided to give it a try anyway as i could get the colour to match my cookware. My intention was to use this for my coffee sweetener in lieu of an ugly plastic container. I received the item and put it to use, only to have the lid start popping off. I removed the gasket and reversed it, and the problem persisted. I called Le Creuset's customer service and they sent replacement gaskets (twice, both times in the wrong size). Eventually they replaced the whole canister, and I'm having the same problem. Apparently, they have never received reports of this problem before... In any case, I could not advise anyone buy this product. Perhaps they need to make the lid from the same material as the canister for some weight to hold it down.

This is a very nice container. Sturdy. However for me, the lid keeps popping up. Very annoying. I bought different sizes and it happens with the other product too. So not just a fault with this. This is before I filled them so they aren't too full for the lid to be placed on. Such a shame because these are lovely in every other aspect.

This container is a bit smaller than I had envisioned, but it is the perfect sourdough starter container. The sides are smooth and straight and the opening is wide enough to accommodate a spatula. The lid is not a particularly tightly sealing lid, so it gives the starter a little bit of breathing room. This container is not a best buy, but Le Creuset is timeless and the container appears well made.

I have other Le Creuset items that I love, including a canister like this one. My one star review is for the way this was shipped. This canister arrived completely shattered because it was shipped in a bag. I opted for a refund rather than a replacement because I don’t trust that it would be shipped any differently.

So, the cookware is made in France, but these little storage items are made in China and you can tell the difference in quality. I know others had mentioned the fit of the lids, but I was hoping it had been addressed in the manufacturing. Nope. I tried to upload a photo, but was unable to.

The lid is not working properly, it opens on its own.

I was a little worried it would arrive broken, but it arrived intact and was just what I hoped for. Also worried about the lid not closing like some reviewers mentioned, but it worked fine! The recipient loved it.

For some reason the sealing in the lid keeps pushing the lid off. We thought it was overly full but even when we took out some of the coffee grounds it still did it. I ended up just removing the seal.

This is a very nice looking canister. However the lid does tend to pop off at times. I use mine for coffee, tea, sugar and tea bags and they look great on the bench
