It does not come with instructions, so the little screw that sticks out of the side of the metal is what you use to tighten and loosen to allow the telescope to come out of the base: don’t unscrew the wooden cane part. The compass actually does work, and the arrow does always point north. It’s a good size and about as sturdy as the alligator cane. I bought a year or so ago; it’s a nice, fun cane.

Bought this for a present for my brother and he loved it; he uses a cane and likes unusual ones, and this totally fit the bill. Looks great, and it's nice that you can break it down into pieces if you want to take it with you in a suitcase (because I'm not sure you could get through security and take this on a plane. I wouldn't try it.) The telescope isn't very high-powered but it's fun to play with. Good item!

Heavy, intricate, well-finished steam punk for sure. I love this cane! Two small gripes. The telescope doesn't magnify (it it a cptume piece) and the brass end attachment to the wooden cane was loose because it wasn't fit well enough. I disassembeld it, re-fit the assembly to the shaft, and now it's solid. I can use it like a real cane!

Well constructed and wonderful finish - overall quality product. Be aware the telescope handle might be a bit loose and causes the walking stick to be top heavy. It does not appear to be designed for true weight support although it could do it well - but not for me as it is 3" too tall for my specific needs, otherwise I would have kept it.

It is made of quality material but was not put together well. It is wobbly, and the top keeps trying to come off. So it is not really great to use. It has to be taken apart and put back together the right correct way so it stays together

First, the chain broke on the screw that allows you to open the telescope on the first day. Now I can't open the telescope without a tool. The cane itself is unsteady. I screwed the lower peice in tight, but it still wobbles and the handle or telescope part arrived loose, as if it was not glued on properly. If you just want to walk around with a cane and not walk on the cane, it's the perfect decoration.

Well crafted cane . Beautiful details , every piece fits well together . Its a heavy solid piece not cheap feeling at all .Great price for the quality of this Cane .
