Sharp enough to slice your own thumb in half
This thing cost me $2k. It’s so sharp I sliced my thumb in half and spent NYD in the ER. Good knife, very sharp.

I've bought 4. I love this knife
I use this knife for processing animals on the farm and for parting up deer. The shape is fantastic for skinning and works well for large jobs. Other knives have made my hand go numb from pressure spots on the grip. The goofy shape is perfect. The blade stays pretty sharp and the hard sheath is easy to clean and handy when you want to put the blade away to roll an animal or grab something. I have one in my jeep, my fishing pack, in my kitchen, and in my hunting pack.

Good but painful
The large jimping concentrates force onto small areas of the thumb, which increases the pain when pushing really hard. But it doesn't increase friction because the ridges are round on top and as smooth as the rest of the blade. Otherwise, the handle is comfortable and not too smooth. The blade is .09" thick, and arrived sharp. Overall, good value for money. Just need to sand the jimping with a rough grit for traction.

price and quality
because it is SO light you may think, this is not a knife. I use mine in the kitchen, cutting steak!, out in the field, daily carry. Love mine. I actually accumulated quite a few! I have been carrying and using this knife design since they first came out, no kidding.

A Good Quality Working Belt Knife
This is a good, inexpensive copy of the Grohman Canadian Belt Knife shape. I have an original Grohman knife, and there are some differences. Both knives have the same shape, length, blade profile, and a very close handle shape. The Cold steel blade is stainless and of a good quality to hold an edge. The black handle is of polypropylene, the kind of plastic yellow rope is made of, as opposed to the original's rosewood handle. The design of both is ideal for cleaning fish or game, and general use. The lanyard hole is handy to secure the knife when it is essential to keep it, and the notching on the blade back makes it easy to work with when the handle is wet or covered with blood or fish slime. In home testing, both make a good kitchen knife, and the shape works well on the cutting board. The shape is designed for use, and not to look "hot" in a catalog or display case. But the more you use it, the more you like it.If you are a collector, skip this knife and spend the 65 bucks for the original. The Grohman has about 1 1/2 times the thickness of blade, a full tang, and a finer finish. The Cold Steel is not the pride of ownership model, and the original's rosewood handle looks and feels better. The original just feels better in your hand. If you are a working trapper or woodsman, get the original, it will fit your hand better, last longer, and work better. Why buy the Cold Steel version?Function It works well for the job it is designed to do.Price. If there is likelihood of loss, you haven't lost as much, and you get into the game for less. The original costs about $65.Weight. As an ultralight backpacker, I like the lighter weight of the Cold Steel. It has the same sized cutting edge for less weight. Ounces make pounds, and pounds make me tired.Stainless. My original is high carbon steel. For the rain drenched trail, like the Appalachian Trail, or for use around salt water, the stainless is a better choice. To sit in a tackle box with gear used in salt water, definitely use stainless. So while I "like" the original better, I use both knives as the situation requires. I am glad I bought the Cold steel, and consider it a good value.

In my research a saw lots of cool pictures custome cnandian belt knives and people raving about ...
Ridiculous Knife, ridiculous, shape, ridiculous low price, what in the world is going on here. When I first saw this knife I though Cold Steel was just making up weird inventions and randomly naming things interesting names. Then I googled Canadian Belt knife and found that these are not just a fictional invention of Cold Steel but an actual THING! In my research a saw lots of cool pictures custome cnandian belt knives and people raving about how practical they are so I had to try one. Luckily the Cold Steel version is totally cheap making it a no brainer, I had to try one out. The wierd shape makes it really useful around the camp sight particularly with small game. great for scaling and cleaning fish or skinning lil critters. the hump in the handle lets you get two fingers right up on the blade and the rest of the handle disappears on your hand . it totally makes the blade like an extension of your hand. I will probably upgrade to a nicer one of these in the future but for the price on this knife i would say if you are curious , just get one, its dirt cheap.as for the actual quality of the knife it comes with a good sharp edge right out of the box the shape of the blade make it real easy to touch up and sharpen. the handles is kind of cheap and I am not sure how deep the tang penetrates the handle but this shouldn't matter much because this is more of a fine detail knife than it is a heavy heave\y duty workhorse so the handle is adequate even if it does feel a bit cheap. A bonus is that mine came with a plastic clip on belt sheath very much copied from the Morakniv style of plastic sheaths. I am not the biggest fan of that type of sheath and usually will replace it with leather but on this inexpensive knife the plastic sheath is good enough and it is way better than the nylon sheath this knife\ used to come with, everywhere I see it advertised it is shown with a flimsy nylon sheath. I was pleased when mine came with the upgraded sheath.

Very Handy, Very Sharp!
Wanted to give this knife a try mainly because of the off-beat blade and handle design--I thought to myself, no one would make a knife that weird looking (even Cold Steel) without a good reason! I was right: the reason is, it's great in the hand, offers lots of utility (even as a kitchen knife!), is as sharp as any knife I've handled out of the box, and the price is very reasonable. If you buy it and use it for nothing more demanding than slicing up limes for a cocktail, you won't regret it. On the other hand, if you chance to meet a Bear than needs skinning (as sadly, so many do these days), I bet this knife will do the job!

Really sharp but small
I had forgotten how sharp Cold Steel knives are. This is no exception but both the blade and handle are small.
