Unique tactile surface
GooIdea 36 piece set of magnetic tiles is quite nice. Note that the picture in the ad is of multiple sets together. I would consider this a starter set or add on set as your little builder will need more pieces. I have been a Pre-K teacher for over 10 years and have acquired a huge collection of magnetic tiles. Let's compare this set with some other brands. First let's compare aesthetic quality and unique designs. These come in pretty standard colors with a nice teal color added in. The faces of these tiles have a unique diamond pattern/flower petal shape that my students will love. They have a nice tactile feel that will interest my sensory students. I have not seen this design as of yet and this will add some variety to my collection for sure. These do not have the metal riveted corners like MagnaTiles but have the plastic rivets. In my 10+ years of experience in the classroom with students crashing my blocks daily few have ever broken. I do not consider rivets a deciding factor on quality. The faces on these are better suited for tactile experience, diamond castles, beautiful windows and structures. Not blocks I would choose for a child that just loves to build flat roads to drive their cars on. Let's compare thickness next. In the last picture you will see three stacks of 7 tiles. On the left is MagnaTiles Stardust set and on the right is Picasso Tiles. The middle stack is this GooIdea set. These are slightly thicker than MagnaTiles and just about as thick as Picasso Tiles. Most sets will fall between these two name brands as far as thickness. These tiles will meld seamlessly with all your other standard sized tiles and are fully compatible. Let's test magnetism. I did see in the ad that this set had upgraded, strong magnetism. To test magnetic strength I dangle a line of squares off of one square to see how many a single tile will hold. Here is how this specific set compares. I own over 26 different name brands of magnetic tiles which hold from a very weak 4 tiles up to a whopping 8 tile line. In what I consider the median area of magnetism, I have 12 brands that will hold 6 tiles long and 10 brands that hold 7. This set is middle of the road and holds 6 tiles. These have average magnetism and will make a nice addition to your collection. You will also see in the pictures that the half sized rectangle pieces have some polarity issues. Do not be surprised by this, almost all of those particular shaped pieces will display the same tendencies in most name brands. You will find fence shaped pieces will often do the same thing. Overall, my favorite attribute of this set is the lovely tactile blossom design on every piece. These are unique and enhance my classroom collection. I tried to get some pictures of these against the window to show how lovely they they are and how they catch the light. They have also included 15 squares in this set (plus windows) which is, by far the most played with and coveted shape in the classroom. Nice. I do love the textured surface and this company makes another set with great texture and unique design. These will add variety and beauty to your collection for sure. I hope this company continues to come up with distinctively unique designs. I look forward to their new creations. Good purchase.

Beautiful, but weaker magnets than some.
These are easily the loveliest magnetic tiles I've seen, and I have quite a collection. The facets on the jewel-toned transparent plastic really make these sparkle, luring visiting children in to play with them. This is a small set, so not all of the things in the included booklet can be built with them, but it's still a fun starter set. A plastic bag is included to store the tiles in, but I'll be transferring them to a heavier container. The magnets on this set are weaker than some, which may be a plus or minus to the user. I actually prefer this, as some sets have magnets that are so strong that small fingers can get pinched hard as the tiles snap together, but older children might prefer stronger ones. Despite this, as you can see in the picture above, the hold was strong enough to put a "balcony" on the house I built to show these off.I'd definitely buy these again, but, of course, as with all magnet tiles, use need sto be limited to children who will not chew on them, and watched carefully for breakage, as high powered magnets -- or even these -- can be deadly if swallowed!

compatible with other magnetic tiles
I ordered this set to add on to our already existing collection of magnetic tiles. From what we have, they are most similar to the picasso tiles. These magnetic tiles are very strong - you can put two together, wave the top tile back and forth, and the lower tile will swing back and forth without falling off. I especially like the colors this set comes in. Magnetic tiles are a go-to toy in our household and i'm happy to add this set.

Stronger magnets, nice patterns, lots of fun.
I have a few different sets of magnetic tiles and this is one of the best sets out there. First off, it comes with a number of various square, triangle and rectangular shapes so you can build quite a few things. I would recommend for large building projects to get another set so you have even more pieces to play with. I am really impressed by the strength of the magnets on this set. They hold much stronger than many others which helps hold your creations together. Another thing I like is the styling of the tiles. There is a nice bubble/diamond look to the pieces which makes them look fancier than plain flat sets. These are compatible with many other sets and works great.

Awesome!
We really liked these magnetic tiles. They are beautiful jewel tones and have a stained glass effect when held up to the light. They are very user friendly and promote creativity. I like that the magnets themselves are fully contained in order to prevent any choking hazard for little kids who may out them in their mouths. These seem nice and sturdy and we will definitely be getting some more to build bigger things.

great gifts for kids
my kids absolutely love these magnetic blocks we have bought a few sets throughout the years. they are great to have for kids of any age, my kids range from one to 11 years old, and they all play with them together they stick together so you can build multiple different buildings or whatever their imagination comes up with, but not to strong to where they can't pull them apart and rebuild. also, they don't take up much room if you stack together so you can take along with you wherever you go.

Great gift idea!
My kids LOVE to build with these. I love that they are textured to give an extra pop to their designs. They are small and easy to travel with, great for vacations, and even for church!
