Novagard G662 General Purpose Silicone Grease-Like Compound, NSF 61 Certified, 5.3 oz Tube

Good lubricant.

This Novagard G662 grease is the best that I have found for lubricating o-rings for backflow preventer repairs. And it's NSF 61, which is a must. It stays tacky and doesn't get runny or wash out easily. It's also rated up to about 400 degrees, according to the manufacturers website.

Silicone grease in a tube this size I found hard to find locally. I tried Walmart and auto parts stores with no luck. Silicone grease is great for most any lubrication, especialy if there's moisture present, like plumbing. It does no damage to rubber parts and it stops the sqeeks. It also does not stain like most oily luricants do and will perform well even at extreme temperatures of below zero and up to 400 degrees. I always like to have a tube handy for do-it-yourself projects. The 5.3 oz tube should keep me happy for quite awhile since a little goes a long way.

I initially bought this for use on steel hinges and as a dielectric sealer for electronic components. I went for the NSF Standard 61 version because of the guaranteed low contaminant content. I have since used this on everything from doors to dishwashers, and it works every time. Not sure what Roche was talking about. Silicone based is as chemically inert as a lubricant can be. It reacts with chlorides, but only significantly at temperatures exceeding 570 degrees Fahrenheit. Otherwise silicone and silicone greases are long lasting by nature of not changing chemical makeup over time, even under extreme conditions.

We use this for our 3 stage whole house water filtration system in our house. It safe (NSF certified) and works great and the best value for the amount of silicone you get. They only sell very small tubes at the stores and this is a much better value.

Silicone itself is great. The tube is terrible. It split open, so there goes $30 into the trash bin.

I purchased this to help lube a hinge in my refrigerator. I wanted something that was food-safe, and this product fit the bill. I used it on the middle hinge on my french-door refrigerator, since it was sticking a little and wouldn't easily close when swung shut. A lot of product. You can also use this on a lot of watertight seals and gaskets. I plan to use this on my underwater camera housing. Good product that does what it is supposed to.

Novagard G662 exactly match what is described in the publication of Amazon.com and more ... Consistency and texture pleasant to the touch.
