I love the concept of this book and the photos have the potential to be gorgeous if you can manage not to make a mess of them. The provided tool does not work for revealing the artwork, so I tried various objects and found that a nail file (that got destroyed in the process) worked best. Even with that you have to press down hard, so it may only be doable for preteens and older.

My seven year old was very excited by this book and said repeatedly how cool it was to have a book of famous women. Then she started to try to use the thing. The black scratch off stuff is really hard to scratch, and almost impossible with the stylus included. I tried and couldn't get very far. It's like the black is too thick to be removed by scratching through. It needs to be pulled off at an angle. A nickle is working because of the thick edge and slight lip at the edge of the coin.

My 10 year old was excited to have fun with this book we bougth it but she got frustrated because the tool tgat comes with it is useless,it was ripping the pages,the black thing does not come off .

Book is defective. Stylus does not scratch material covering picture as it is meant to do.The material covering the picture which you are meant to reveal is too think.Very poor. Cannot recommend.
