I use the mat. Helps the machine not to wobble. If you have a low pile carpet it might do okay.

Does it help to build muscles in your legs?

Yes my long shorts have gotten tighter close to my kneess. but it has helped me with my knees and body circulation. I can cross my legs and much more,

Is this good for a person that cant pedal?
