Pretty but light weight.

We recently visited the Isabella Gardner museum in Boston to see the excellent Botticelli exhibit. While there we learned the sad story of the 1990 robbery that happened at the museum. One of the paintings the robbers took is a Rembrandt. Not only was it the only Rembrandt at the museum, but also the only seascape Rembrandt ever painted.The museum gift shop sells reprints of the painting at a smaller scale. I am a sucker for seascapes (Aivazovsky anyone?). Naturally, I got one to hang at home. The reprint is 8x10 with a white mat to fill to 11x14. The colors of the painting are rather dark to show the distress of a dangerous voyage across the sea. The color theme, the size, the mat color and size all demanded a dark wood frame between 1.5 to 2 inches in width.Wood costs an arm and a leg, so I got the plastic imitation that looked good on Amazon photos. And let me tell you that the result is completely satisfactory for this particular job. My walls are painted light, so when I hang it, it will look magnificent.Overall, very satisfied with the product. It does not look cheap. It doesn't look like wood either, but doesn't have that cheap plastic look. It's not flimsy, very sturdy, but light at the same time, because it's plastic. And I have to say that the back does not close tightly. You need to add some girth to your insert, so it won't rattle inside. Like a cut out from cardboard and such.

The picture frame is great

I wanted a frame that looked ornate for a vintage photo. I am doing a display for a tablesetting themed art show that is historical. The frame was a little more modern than expected but others I found were way too expensive. I was very pleased that the frame was shrink wrapped and in a box for the frame itself and then well packed for shipping. It was in perfect condition, unlike some frames I've gotten from craft stores. It is real glass (not cheap plastic and it was so clean I didn't even have to get out the Windex! The back of the frame is sturdy and has sort of velour texture. I will stand it up for my display but it can also be hung either vertically or horizontally. I'm so pleased!
