Short version: My wife and I have had this mattress for over a year now and can say with confidence that it was an excellent purchase- it is still firm and has no sags or dips. I highly recommend it. I have held off on writing a review for this mattress because I felt it was necessary to sleep on it for an extended period of time to give it the most fair and accurate review. My wife and I purchased this mattress over a year ago, in November 2017. After going to all the local stores, from big box to mom and pop, my wife and I found ourselves with a problem: we could tell which mattresses were soft and which were firm, but aside from that we didn't really feel much difference apart from the price tag- almost all of which exceeded a thousand dollars, with some approaching two grand. That's quite an outlay of cash. So, going off reviews on Amazon we took the leap on this Zinus Extra Firm iCoil 12 inch king mattress. We also purchased a steel foundation upon which to set the mattress in our bed frame. The box arrived a little beat up, but my wife and I muscled it into the house and carried it upstairs together. It's a two person job, but not impossible. We set the rolled up mattress on our guest bed and carefully cut away the plastic so the bed would unroll. (Pro tip: Don't stand between the mattress and the wall. You might get pinched) We followed the directions and let the mattress sit undisturbed for 2 or 3 days so it could fully expand. After which time, we moved it into our bedroom. It's now more than one year on and I feel qualified to report on the mattress. It is firm, but not rock hard. This is obviously subjective, so all I can say is that you know a firm mattress when you lay on one, and this is a firm mattress but is still comfortable. I'm a side and stomach sleeper, and my wife is a back sleeper. I'm 5'11", 230lbs, and we'll just say that my wife is plus sized and leave it at that. The mattress supports both of us fine, and a year later has no depressions, dips, sags or problem areas. The last time I did laundry I snapped some photos of the mattress which I have posted above. You'll notice the mattress is still even and flat, even after a year of nightly use. I purchased this mattress myself, with my own money, have no relationship with the manufacturer, and am receiving nothing in return for writing this review. I just know how difficult it is take the leap of purchasing something like this over the internet, so I thought I'd write a review to help people in a similar situation my wife and I found ourselves in last year. This mattress was an excellent purchase, I've recommended it to friends, and if you're in the market for a fairly priced firm mattress, I can recommend it to you as well. Cheers.

The mattress arrived on time and was well packaged in a compact box. After unboxing, it expanded properly within the recommended timeframe. The hybrid design combines foam and springs to provide consistent support. The medium feel strikes a good balance between firmness and softness. Weight distribution felt even, offering decent support for the back and spine. Motion transfer was minimal during movement, which is helpful for shared sleep. Being fiberglass-free adds peace of mind from a safety perspective. Breathability seems better compared to traditional all-foam mattresses. Comfort levels may vary depending on body type and sleeping position. Overall, this mattress offers solid value and reliable performance for the price.

Eighteen months ago due to severe spinal stenosis I gave up my once awesome but currently sagging 20 year old beauty rest mattress in favor of sleeping directly on my board like box springs with a mattress topper. For a while it helped but at 68 years old I finally realized I needed at least a little bit of cushion or give. After reviewing pretty much every mattress on the planet for the last six months I decided on an inexpensive bed in a box type of mattress. I didn't want to spend a lot in case it didn't work out. I have had coil spring mattresses for over 60 years so I decided to stick with that familiar feel. However, I definitely needed the firmest mattress I could find… a step above the wooden board I had been sleeping on. Last Monday, July 28th I ordered the Zinus performance plus extra firm 10 inch queen mattress. I received it three days later on Thursday shipped from Amazon. It came in a long box about 90 pounds. I maneuvered it from the porch on its end all the way to my bedroom. Not too bad for a 68 year old woman with a bad back! I set it on the bed and unpacked it with no problem. I slowly cut the wrapper off as instructed and the mattress immediately started inflating and expanding. The smell was very mild and reminded me of dried hay. 10 hours later when I went to bed the smell was completely gone. Before I made up the bed I laid on the mattress for a few minutes to test the firmness. It is very firm but with that tiny bit of give that you get from a spring mattress. Since the 10 inch style has very little padding on top of the springs I decided to use my 3 inch Novafirm gel memory foam topper from Costco. If I was a little younger and not so sore I probably wouldn't need it. I also have a very nice bamboo made in the USA mattress pad that I'm using on top of that. Now the results. These last four nights I feel like I died and went to heaven! I have not slept this well in over two years. I feel like I am sleeping in a $2000 bed! I am not waking up six or seven times a night and it is sooo comfortable. Can't tell you how grateful I am to have found this bed and at such a good price. I was so apprehensive about this purchase and am so relieved and happy about the results! I know this was a very long review but I wanted all of you out there to have enough information in one review to help you make a decision. Also you already know my age but I am 5 foot four and 168 pounds if that helps. Also if you buy the bed directly from Amazon it comes a bit faster. Amazon prime got it to me in 3 days but I had to pay $20 tax. If you order it from Amazon and pick vendor Sleep Revolution( which is like the store front of Zinus) to order it from it takes about 7 to14 days and you don't pay tax. But I wanted it really fast. I just want to end this review with a huge thank you to Zinus for making a product that has so vastly improved the quality of my life!!................... Today is April 21, 2021 and it has been about 3 1/2 years since I bought this wonderful mattress. A lot of times you will see a review for a product and then never hear from that consumer again. But I love this bed so much I felt I should offer a follow up. First of all this mattress is in exactly the same shape as when it was new. I can detect no wear of any kind or any sagging. I am now 72 years old and still have my back issues but I have never slept so well in any other bed that I have owned. I still can’t believe that I paid less than $250 for a “bed in a box” coil spring mattress of this quality. I own the 10 inch mattress and as I stated I at first used a 3 inch memory foam topper but I ended up getting rid of it because foam is just too hot for me. Besides the top of this bed is soft enough even though the mattress is super firm and I use a bamboo USA made plush mattress pad cover which is perfect. This combination allows the mattress to breathe and the whole sleeping experience is cool and comfortable rather than hot and suffocating. I think the problem with foam is your body heat does not dissipate very well and I am a very hot sleeper. So in closing I will just say this. This mattress is worth every penny. If you are looking for a very firm bed that is really comfortable and sleeps cool look no further. I hope this follow up review is helpful.

This mattress is far superior to others I have tried! It is supportive and firm! It is very comfortable and I wake up with no aches and pains! I have two queen size and this double size! We love them! The company is great and delivers what it says it will! Best mattresses we have ever had! It popped up full size as soon as we opened it, no problem! If you are looking for a great mattress, then look no further because this is it and you won’t be disappointed!

Great mattress for the price you pay. No sign of back pain so far. Good back support. Firm yet soft enough to be confortable. It has been 2 weeks that I am using and super recommend.

this mattress is both too firm and too weak. it just sucks. it’s like laying on the floor if the floor was made of cheap plastic even with a mattress topper it sucks. getting rid of it after 4 months

I can say without a doubt that this is the best mattress I've ever owned!! I love the extra firmness and it still has a nice pillow top. 12" pocket depth and I bought queen size 14" depth sheets from wayfair that fit it perfectly. Great quality and awesome price! Highly recommend if you like a firm but comfortable mattress :). Worth every penny!

Decent quality but no edge strength.cant sit or lie comfortably close to edge of mattress. Maybe it would do better with small childrens’ weight. Ok for the price to keep in spare bedroom. Wouldn’t recommend for long term use for adults.
