Bought this in a pinch as a pig snare and upon arrival I was immediately impressed by the quality. I was expecting it to be lightweight and cheaply made but not so. Its stainless steel construction and heavy duty thick gauge cable will handle any animal of any size and temperament. Cable locking mechanism is also very heavy duty and strong. No worries about the cable slipping and the animal getting free. Once you have them, they're not getting free until you release them. Very happy with the purchase. Would buy again if needed but this thing should last my lifetime and probably the lifetime of my daughter.

The pole is about 2 feet. That alone is a very negative quality, cause a person will have to bend to use & keep the animal close. (Also note that could be dangerous if working with an animal with a behavior issue or unknown.) The slip cord is very small. Will work for smaller dogs from chihuahuas to yorkies, but it certainly won't fit on large dogs. I would think it's going to be uncomfortable for medium size dogs like pit bulls. [Perhaps they intended this pole for short people catching rats. SMH] The locking mechanism works but is tight and difficult. The handle to pull & retract is a fairly good design, but with all the other negatives it doesn't work well. Remember that you need 1 hand to secure the pole, & another to pull the cord back. Because the lock is so difficult, it feels like intended for people with 3 hands.... which none of us are. There is also a nice handle... however the location is not where a person would comfortably and securely by holding such a pole. It's a cheap Chinese product and should be skipped over. Even though I didn't think it was good, I tried to keep it, but it couldn't even hold a chihuahua. So I'll be sending it back.

Works great for us when tagging our pigs which are always over 100lbs. when we tag. Product is exactly as described in the description.

Do not trust this tool to hold tight. This tool allowed for multiple 50 pound piglets to escape. There is nothing to hold the wire in once you pull the handle. Sure, if you pull on it it will stay, but wrap that thing around a pig while trying to drag it into a trailer, no go. Would not recommend especially if you only have once chance to get a pig.
