The Knights of Rhodes - The Palace and the City

I used this book for research when writing a novel about a knight in the Order of St. John. The detail was neatly organized and detailed, with many supporting pictures. Definitely a good source for information about the medieval Hospitallers on Rhodes.

A very informative brief history of the Knights of Rhodes, beautifully illustrated in color, with a guide to the great Palace of the Grand Master. Recommended background reading for tourists with a sense of history.

This is a very good book for illustrative purposes of what is presently encountered at Rhodes. Parts of the narrative history presented are disputable, and there may be a tendency among the reader to accept the pictures presented of the present Grand Master's palace in Rhodes as what it appeared as in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, but it is worth buying for anyone interested in the history of the defenses and medieval appearance of Rhodes.

If you can get this then snap it up. It's glossy and informative especially if you holiday in Rhodes and are interested in this era. Cannot believe the used price I got it for - brilliant.
