3.5
3.5The Other Girl is my first Erica Spindler's novel and I can see why people enjoy her books.I liked Miranda "Randi" Rader, the main character. She's a detective in the Lousiana PD. She lives in Harmony but she came from the town of Jasper. She used to run with the wrong people and after getting caught with pot, she was sent away. She learned from her mistakes and she reinvented herself. She worked hard to become a police officer and during her time in the force, she has become someone to look up to.At the beginning of the novel, Miranda is assigned a new case. Her boss calls her to come to the scene of a gruesome crime. A well-liked professor has been found murdered and mutilated. Her partner, Jake Billings, joins her. Miranda is rattled when while searching the victim's home, she finds a newspaper clipping from the incident that changed her life fifteen years ago. Subsequently, more clues point to a connection between Miranda and what happened during that terrible night many moons ago. At that time, no one believed her but now, someone wants the truth to come out. Shortly, Miranda is looking great as the perpetrator and she realizes she can't trust anyone. Not even her partner.I liked the prose of The Other Girl. It kept me interested in the plot despite Miranda making multiple mistakes during her search for the truth. She broke protocol repeatedly. I liked Jake too but he ran hot and cold. One minute he backed up Miranda, the next one, he was dooming her.In regards to the twist. I expected it. It was easy to guess. What wasn't clear was the motivation. That, I liked.Cliffhanger: No

Good Read but Very Predictable
BOOK 46 of 2019: THE OTHER GIRL by Erica SpindlerI’m a big fan of Erica Spindler and I have read many of her books and series.THE OTHER GIRL is a standalone novel about Miranda, a detective in the small town of Harmony, Louisiana.Miranda is called to a case - the brutal murder of a beloved college professor and there are things at the scene that allude to her and a trauma she suffered as a teen. A trauma no one believed her about. Is she being framed for the murder? The evidence starts stacking up against her and she has to figure out the truth. This was a good book, though not my favorite of this author. For me, it was very predictable and easy to figure out. Maybe it should have had a different title? Still, I liked the characters and it’s worth the read.

A must read for any Spindler fan!
Let me begin by stating I am a huge fan of Ms. Spindler's writing style. I have read every one of her suspense novels and she is one of my favorite authors. The Other Girl did not disappoint! The story's heroine involves Miranda, a police officer serving her home town in LA. She was once a "wild child" and time in a youth detention center made her change her life course. Fast forward to the plot of the book, and you will see how Miranda's past collides with her present. When she is placed on suspension from the police force and does not know who to trust, she focuses on her past to drive her along in order to find the truth! You will have to read the book as I do not like to give away spoilers! This book is a fast read and did not have a complicated plot. A must read to end the summer!A special thanks to Netgalley and Ms. Spindler for an advanced readers copy of this book for me to read in exchange for my honest review.

Beach Read
This was a really good book if you want a not-too-deep but enjoyable summer read. I’ll definitely be looking for more by the same author. Only complaint is the sex scenes. I love mystery and suspense, with zero interest in writhing bodies with the accompanying moans and groans. There are plenty of those genres, and this book would have been much better without them.

Good story but way to short for price
I love Erica Spindler books. The story in this one did not disappoint. I was disappointed in how short it was. I bought the hardback and for the length it was way overpriced. When I pay over 20.00 on sale for a book I expect it to at least be over 250 pages.

Reasonable read
Kept me interested but not enthralled. Characters believable . Plot difficult to swallow at times. Worth a read but no page turner.

An all nighter
Could not put it down. Most books have elements of, that is unrealistic , this book had so much going on that I forgot to criticise the silly things that the hero did or said. A bloody good read with an outcome that made sense. And I cried!!

The other girl keeps reader’s interest
A page turner with some great female characters. A little clunky and contrived but a fun read. Good bedtime fare
