Nutritious & Mild Tasting Oatstraw ♡
This Oatstraw tastes pleasant, moreso than I expected! It gives off a very warm, rounded, comforting, slightly hay-like taste, rather than a sharp bitterness or overt sweetness. Because the flavor is nice and mild, it blends well with many other herbs for tea infusions. Oatstraw is considered a nutritive. Nutritive herbs contain high levels if a particular vitamin or mineral, or contain modest levels of several nutrients. They nourish your body, correct deficiencies, and bring you optimal health. Like all nutritives, Oatstraw is useful for diseases related to specific nutrient deficiencies- including osteoporosis, poor hair/skin/nails, and anemia- as well as general health and wellbeing. Oatstraw offers about 4 times more vitamins and minerals than oatmeal. It's almost equally rich in calcium, magnesium, and iron as Stinging Nettle is. It also contains supportive silica and B vitamins. Oatstraw's mild flavor blends really well with nettle, as well as light, flavorful herbs like lemongrass, rose petals, and lemon verbena. You may have heard this herb being called "milky oats" or "milky oat seed." Those nicknames come from the fact that when you squish the immature oat grain, a milky sap exudes from it. Enjoying a hot mug of herbal tea is an excellent way to kick back and catch up on some quiet mindfulness during the daily bustle. And hustle... And stress, and the hectic, static-like noise people around us tend to produce, non-stop. Chronic stress leads to chronic illness, and if you're already sick, or have a faltering immune system, natural herbs, supplements, and plenty of self-care are truly helpful on your journey towards recovery or functionality. Oatstraw helps.

Very overlooked tea
Of all my herbal teas, this has become the one I use most often. It seems to mix well with any tea I mix it with, calms me down, and is pretty cheap considering its just oat straw. Obviously it gives any tea an oaty, earthy flavor, and I've also found that its good for when my stomach is hurting. I drink this mixed with literally every tea that I have and it works just fine, be it green, black, oolong, white, or any herbal tea. The taste is fairly subtle so you really can't go wrong with mixing it with anything, and from what I've read it has a lot of health benefits.

Good and Good for you
I enjoy the flavor from this tea. I have tried many ways going as long as 12 hr steeps, 6 hr steeps, 2 hr steeps, and have had some in as little as 12 or so min. I think it tastes great (barnyard like in a good way) a small touch of honey or adding something else to the tea like Raspberry leaf really makes it a tasty drink. It is also good for you but i think you get the most health benefits from the longer steep times. I am not an expert on health so check with your primary source of health information before taking that as solid information.

Mellow tea with the power of OatStraw
I like oat straw as a tea. It has a mild taste. I prefer organic because of obvious reasons and it tastes even milder. I am giving a four star not because of its taste. I would give it a five star if it had better packaging. I prefer at least plastic bag over aluminum paper-like material. Since the product is not in liquid state I will accept this packaging but unfortunately not perfect and that is the reason for four stars. I prepare this as a tea ( 1 heaping table spoon) at night by pouring 16 oz. of boiling water and simmering at very low heat for 15-20 mins. It is more medicinal if prepared as an infusion. In a quart glass container with lid, put 1 oz or 30 gr of oat straw. Pour boiling water. Close tight and let it infuse overnight. Strain before using and squeeze the oat straw to make sure you extract as much as you can out of this nutritious herb. This will be strong infusion. Keep it in the fridge and consume in 5-6 days in 5-6 oz servings. Oat Straw is rich in calcium and other minerals including silicon and they are all in a state that are readily available to your body. Enjoy god given herbs and their medicinal properties.

Great supplier!
I'm always happy with the quality of star west herbs! I'm an herbalist and having bulk dried herbs on hand is important. I have always had a good experience with this company. The herbs always have a good scent, no molding, infuse well into oils and cook well in. Tinctures. I have the same result from my peels rations as I do with wild crafted herbs. I have bought many many bulk herbs from star west.
