As a novice pipe smoker I wanted a cheap but good looking pipe to use until I have mastered the art, and this is ideal. I have been using a mini Meerschaum, but wanted to try something for a longer smoke.It looks amazing (there are visible flaws, but at this price you have to expect them, and they are only visible if you are looking for them) and feels good to hold.I have just smoked my first full bowl, in the garden in breezy conditions, and once it was lit it stayed lit to the end of the bowl.It probably won't last forever, but then I don't need it to.It is very heavy though, probably not ideal for clamping in your mouth for long periods of time, but as a pipe to practice the basics with, it does the job

I gave this pipe a good trial from the moment I cleaned it out after receiving it in the post.Looks nice. Interesting, unusual shape, attractive to the eye and touch. But then you begin to inspect it further and realise that the nech is a bit bent not just with the shape of the pipe but to the left, which hardly affects smoking tbo.Silver-coloured band on the neck is a nice feature but looks a bit cheap.The stand it came with just does not hold this pipe - it's an imitation of the one I purchased earlier, but made froma very cheap pine (?) wood, and far too narrow for the pipe. The shape of the neck also makes it impossible to rest on the back of the stand, so can be used separately.But overall, for the money I paid they are both OK, but just that. And not together.
