I have model 0178001. yup, its that old (1959). works great, except now i need a new seal. will this fit?

Not sure because mine is a 0178107. You can contact Presto customer service they helped me replace the plug. I am amazed that you still have a working Presto that old! They appear to be very sturdy! I went through my first sealing ring that came in it in 1 year!! Good luck!

How long do these last until they need to be replaced? Also, if I order these to have on hand as spares, will they age and get brittle in storage?

i use it every week 2/3/times last over year spare put in a ziplock
