Exactly what I was looking for.
Note: At the time of my review the price of this computer was $240. It's come down significantly since then, which only makes it that much more attractive.------------------------I haven't even finished the OS setup, and I'm already giving this 5 stars all around.I'm going to a professional class in June that is *hugely* important to me and my career, and I just needed something lightweight to take with me for studying and whatnot. The description and the prior reviews for this particular machine already ticked all the proverbial boxes, and now that it's in my hands, I can see that it wasn't wasted money at all.The biggest factor for me is the fact that it has a proper 1920x1080 screen, and not one of those other bizzarro resolutions that laptops tend to come in. On a screen this size, the extra pixels matter a lot for viewing documents. The display is sharp, no dead pixels, and the backlighting is nice and even.Even the slightly older i5 processor is pretty grossly overpowered for what I'm going to be using the computer for, but a little extra horsepower never hurts. And 16 gigs of RAM? Yeah, that's a really nice touch.Storage space isn't really going to be a concern, so the 256GB drive will be more than plenty. An SSD is an absolute must these days and I'm glad it didn't come with a platter drive... although at this price point, adding one wouldn't have been much of a burden either.Other things I like: Backlit keyboard, which also doesn't feel like it's made of cheese. Little pointer-control-mousy-bit-thingy on the keyboard. Responsive touch pad. HDMI out. Three standard USB ports as well as a C-micro. Ethernet port. Micro SD card slot. And what looks like maybe a SIM card slot under that? Is that even a thing? At any rate, it's got an awful lot of external connectivity for such a compact laptop. Very good design. This is a really, really nice little machine. I haven't even done anything of value with it yet and I'm already extremely impressed.

Fantastic value/price ratio
I ordered this to use as a travel laptop. Music, videos, email and web surfing are virtually the only thing I wanted. No game playing. First, to me, it was in brand new condition. Honestly, I don't think I would be able to distinguish this from a new machine. For my use it is perfect. I use an external sata drive, which has all my data on it, so the relatively small 256 gb drive that it comes with is not a limitation. It works flawlessly. I use headphones or a small bluetooth speaker when I travel and the sound was great as far as I am concerned. I honestly can't believe I got all of this for the price I paid.

A Great Performer, but you may need a new battery
I'm really happy with this machine. It arrived carefully packed, and the seller even included a brand new mousepad. The laptop itself is in excellent condition, with only the tiniest hints of wear. It could almost pass for new. The inside was also clean, with only a small amount of dust to blow out of the CPU fan.The one shortcoming was a weak battery, which provided only 1-2 hours of run time. Based on previous reviews, that was something I sort of anticipated. Here's a summary of what I've done to beef the machine up at an extra cost of about $80:(1) Replaced the battery with a new third party replacement (search Amazon for "60Wh F3YGT Laptop Battery Replacement for Dell Latitude 7480"). I'm still running through the first few cycles of conditioning, but it looks like I'm getting around 5 hours of casual use right now. I was hoping for closer to the 13 hours boasted when these units were new, but that's not bad. It may improve with conditioning, and you can further increase battery life by making tweaks to your power settings, and / or turning off things you don't always need on, like BlueTooth or Wi-Fi.(2) Booted up Windows long enough to install the latest Dell BIOS update for the Latitude 7480. This is a good idea as it addresses both performance and security issues.(3) Replaced the original 256GB SSD with a much faster 500GB NVMe. I considered upgrading the RAM (it'll take 32GB maximum), but both slots have 8GB DIMMs on this machine, and upgrading would require buying two new modules. I may revisit that idea later on.(4) Installed Linux Mint 21.1.One reviewer wrote that because this laptop doesn't support Windows 11, it would have to be trashed after Windows 10 support ends in October 2025. This is partially correct, but only if you choose to run Windows on it. You can download and install one of the many free distributions of Linux, which takes care of the obsolescence issue entirely. Linux Mint is one of the more user-friendly and popular distributions so it makes an excellent choice. This laptop is more than capable of performing a variety of tasks capably for years to come when you take Microsoft out of the equation.TL;DR It's a good laptop, but plan on buying a replacement battery.
