Thankfully, it comes with special cables for that direct battery connection – exactly what I needed! Using it for the first time, I didn't catch right away that it had an on/off button, but once I figured that out, it was smooth sailing. It seems to smartly detect whether it's connected to the cigarette lighter or directly to the battery, which is pretty neat. The device also has estimates for power consumption of various devices, though these are rough guidelines since power needs can vary greatly. The build quality really impressed me; the plastic casing feels sturdy, and the inverter itself seems worth every penny. It's priced just right for its value. Kept my laptop at 100% during a 6 hour car ride with full brightness and 4-5 active apps. My laptop charge cord said it needed 65w, so I was specifically looking for something near that, because I read about car fuses blowing for the higher inverters.

It makes doing so many things in your vehicle possible. Like using a super fast charger, plugging in a vacuum, etc. I originally got it to plug in a baby monitor.

This Amazon Basics 75W inverter is cheaply made and failed after normal use. The internal components (including low-quality capacitors and weak protection circuitry) clearly couldn’t handle real-world conditions. Instead of safely shutting down, it failed in a way that damaged my car’s ACC circuit. My ACC relay was ruined, and it’s not a common part. I had to wait 3 days for it to arrive and pay extra for expedited shipping just to get my car working again. Because of this poorly designed inverter, my car was unusable and my schedule was completely disrupted. This wasn’t a minor inconvenience — it was a huge disaster caused by a cheap product. Amazon is a massive company. There is no excuse for selling a power device under the “Basics” brand that can damage a vehicle. This inverter is unreliable, poorly engineered, and absolutely not worth the risk. Avoid it.

I had 2 others from another brand and misplaced both. Needing an inverter for an item I purchased thinking it was cordless that wasn't, this did the job as necessary. I like that it's a little smaller than one of the other ones, I have a compact size car with one outlet that is directly in front of gear shift. So when plugged in I have to put the car in drive or in order to manage when using which isn't often.

Perfect addition to our long distance travel kit. Being able to plug in is a game changer. Sturdy and durable. Fits easily into the cigarette lighter space. Great for powering up multiple devices at the same time.

Installed this in an enclosed trailer. Works great off the RV Battery. For the price point I'm pleased but I would be willing to pay $50 more for a low power disconnect built in.

Dangerous. I'm glad I caught this in time or it might have melted and caused a fire. I've been working with DC power systems in my home for the past 4 years (off-grid), and I've never had a device get that hot. It was the only thing in the system that was malfunctioning. Battery--fine, charger--fine, wires--fine, cigarette lighter adapter--fine; no heat, everything was working well, this item was only powering a 35 watt device, periodically, i.e. for about 5 mins, a couple of times an hour. Maybe there was some short circuiting? I don't know, but based on the other reviews this is a quality assurance issue and this device is hit or miss. Not work the risk.
