The one scrubber you should not be without
This is the one thing in the kitchen we cannot do without. It works on cast iron, pyrex, glass, ceramic and steel. This makes short work of the worst burnt on messes you can think of. We put pyrex casserole dishes on our pellet grill to roast veggies and lived with yellowish brown burnt oil stains on them for years. This scrubber took the stains off in a just a few minutes. We overheated oil in a saucepan and started a small fire which severely scorched the pan. It was pitch black. Hours of soaking, running through the dishwasher and scrubbing with traditional scratch pads did nothing. 10 minutes with this scrubber and the pan is good as new. It is absolutely incredible. We keep ours on the edge of the sink, so ours has inadvertently slipped down the disposal more than once. After unwinding it we put it right back to work. We have given these as Christmas, birthday, housewarming and wedding gifts. We recommend them to anyone who will listen. Do yourself a favor and spend up for the real thing. Avoid the cheap imitations. The quality is not close. Great quality. Worth every penny.

Major cleaning power for stuck on
Especially useful for first pass cleaning of the grill or iron skillet. Moves the major, stuck - on gradoo, allowing easier scrubbing with finer scrubber.

Food build up on your skillet, BE GONE!
This works great if you decided to burn a little bit of food on the bottom of your cast iron skillet. Hot water, dish soap, chain mail scrubber and a little elbow grease, this thing does wonders. Definitely missing out if you don’t have one

Wow! This little gadget is amazing!!!
Let's start from the beginning. This month I decided to add to my FABULOUS Lodge Cast Iron cooking collection the Lodge LPG13 Pro Grid Cast Iron Grill/Griddle (which I will post a review next as ANOTHER great buy!) from Amazon. As soon as I received my new grill I used it that night. UMMMMMM my husband and I gobbled up the most delicious steak we have ever had!!! So once we licked our chops and began to pick up the dinner dishes I realized that getting this grill/griddle clean would be a little harder than my other cast iron pans, pizza pan, single serve flat skillets/pans, etc. So I began a quick hunt on Amazon for something that would get in between the grill "grooves" which always seems easier to do BEFORE you buy and cook on the product. That's where this Mail cast iron pan scrubber came into the picture. It arrived two days ago and I used it yesterday on my (are you ready?) five day old dirty grill. You see after I struggled cleaning it the first time after our delicious steak, I used it again, but this time left it on my stove until this amazing product arrived. There was no way I was going to struggle cleaning those grooves again!! So when I opened the packaging to use this cast iron scrubber I knew it was going to do what most reviewers on Amazon said it could or it was not. Simple as that. Well, first I placed my very crusty grill in my sink and filled it with warm water letting it sit for about twenty minutes, then I grabbed my cast iron chain and the rest is history!!! Folks, within 5-6 minutes the entire crusty grill was cleaned. Wow!!! This little gadget (fits nicely in the palm of my hand) allowed me to get in between every "lifted" grill area, which is impossible to do thoroughly even with a conventional grill brush, believe me I tried. I was amazed. Sure, I had to apply a little elbow grease, but just a little. The crust and grime came off, using only warm water, in an instant. After using it, I placed it in my sink to soak for about 2 minutes and rinsed it out. It rinsed clean leaving no residue at all between the chained links. It is hanging now above my sink on a tiny hook, awaiting its next mission impossible, which is no longer impossible. So here is my recommendation. You want delicious, savory cooking experiences? Purchase cast iron cookery. You want your grills cleaned very well with little effort? Stop wasting your money on brushes that supposedly clean cast iron grills and make a one time purchase of this amazing little item, you will not regret it. In response to reviewers that complain about the cost, initially it does cost more than a brush, but in no time you will see the cost effectiveness of something that does what you need it to do instead of something that does not. You win when something works. You win in time, effort and money.

Great, but not excellent. Slippery when wet (and greasy)!
Great little item. Works well on my cast iron cookware, though admittedly not as well as I had hoped (but my hopes were quite high based on all the raving reviews). Seems to do a good job at getting the stuck on bits off, while leaving the seasoning well intact. One note... within the first 5 minutes of using this thing it ended up in the garbage disposal twice. Once this gets a little grease on it (I was cleaning a pan used to sear steak) it becomes slick as snot. It's not so slick it becomes hard to handle, but once you drop it in the bottom of a slippery sink it's down the drain before you even knew what happened. So, just a word of warning, either make sure you're using this with your disposal off, or use it on another side of the sink. I was shocked (and a bit impressed, honestly) at how quickly this thing slips right down the drain.

Seriously - This Should Be A Kitchen Staple for ALL Cast Iron Cooks!
Alright, $20 for a scrubber is spendy but every review I read said this was a MUST for cast iron and I'm here to shout from the rooftops that I agree. I recently made the switch from toxic Teflon to cast iron and I am LOVING how my food tastes but I must admit I was wary of cast iron cleanup (no soap, no dishwasher). I'm concerned with getting the pans truly clean so I don't somehow make my 5 year-old sick and a germy sponge on something that won't be run through the dishwasher sounded like a bad idea. This scrubber arrived a week after I switched to my cast iron pans and it made things MUCH easier. I've been using the Lodge Double Play grill/griddle like a cookie sheet for baking. I've baked on cheese, sticky sugar - you name it - and this chain mail scrubber busted it off in an easy pass or two. Tonight I made a roux (read: flour-based glue) in my Lodge 10 inch skillet...and then left it on the stove where it dried out until I got to it two hours later (see: 5 year-old). This scrubber whisked it away under hot water as if it was butter. Chain Mail scrub time per pan: less than 1 minute. Chain Mail scrub time for the worst pan mess I've managed to create: about 1 full minute. Bonus that my son and husband think its cool and do the cast iron scrubbing for me. Did you read that? THIS CHAIN MAIL SCRUBBER TRIGGERS SOMETHING IN THE MALE GENOME, CAUSING THEM TO DO THE DISHES! That is worth $20 alone right?!! Rest assured that it cleans very, very well. Now let me tell you why else I love it and why I bought one for my "doomsday prepper" mom. The thing is INDESTRUCTIBLE and will last for years and years before it comes close to needing to be replaced. (She hadn't yet thought of stockpiling plastic dish scrubbers and now she doesn't have to. This thing will easily last longer than a dozen packs of sponges.) Another bonus I thought of today while chopping onions - it's stainless steel and can do the same thing those stainless steel bars of soap do: remove tough odors when you rub it over your hands. (Just make sure you keep the chain mail clean or you'll smell like onions AND bacon grease!) Another reviewer said to leave it in the sink while you wash other dishes, which is a good suggestion. Also, soap won't hurt this. Just rinse well before it touches your cast iron again. Need more reasons to buy it? * Its environmentally friendly and makes a great gift for your Eco friends/neighbors/in-laws. * You can easily pack it for camping. It will scrub just as well in brownish green lake water! * There is NO WAY it can melt in your dishwasher. * It brings that extra touch of Medieval-chic to your kitchen. * If you hate it (honestly, sister?) downgrade it to a more humiliating use, such a coaster. Some man will eventually find it and start doing your dishes!
