A Nostalgic Taste of 1970's Britain
For those who complain about the quality of the product. You need to remember that this is a mass produced pie, not a hand made pie, made from scratch that you buy from you local butchers. Of course it wont be busting at the seams with filling, no matter matter what they advertise on the tin. What this is, is a trip down memory lane for the most part. I did find that there was a little more filling, but nothing to write home about. I've been purchasing these pies on and of for years since I am unable to find these in Los Angeles. They taste as good as I remember when I had them as a kid. My only complaint is the price tag. $20.00 for one pie is an absolute rip off, hence I only buy them when I want to treat myself to crappy British food from my childhood.

Righteous!
If you've been yearning for the flavor of kidneys, you 've got two options. Go down to the butcher, buy a pair of fresh ones, spend hour cleaning them and rinsing out some of that distinctive ammoniacal tang and aroma, broil them to a turn and enjoy! Half a day's work in the kitchen but worth it.Or, you can just preheat your oven, pop the top of this container, and give it a half hour or so to raise up. A fine golden pastry crust enclosing a rich broth of beef and kidneys. A kidney pot pie! And so easy!Fray Bentos is your go-to for British delicacies. Some close-minded folks would call it offal. I call it delish! If your taste for things British runs to eel pie and a toad in the hole, Fray Bentos has something for you!

I CANNOT recommend anyone to buy this.
I CANNOT recommend anyone to buy this.Apparently not high quality food, with some, but not a lot flavor/taste and not generous with meat -- and over-priced. Can label says 33% more meat -- well, 33% more than a small amount of meat is a moderate amount of meat ... but not a lot of meat. The instructions say that a "robust" can opener should be used, to open the can -- after using 3 different "robust" can openers - I still had to use pliers & brute strength to finish opening the can.Even if you find the flavor/taste acceptable, is the "covenience" of having a ready-made meal still convenient if you must spend 20 to 30 minutes just to open the can, then another 30 minutes to bake it, then more time for it to cool enough to eat?

Nice but small
A nice tasting pie, just like i used to get in the UK. Unfortunately, very small thus making it poor value for the money.

Exceptionally Tasty
Actually, we became interested in Steak and Kidney Pie from the TV program we just discovered called Pie in the Sky, recorded in the early 90's starring Richard Griffiths. His restaurant featured Steak and Kidney Pie, and having not had it, we ordered it from Amazon. It was fabulous. Great taste. Pastry puffed up nicely. We sprayed with Whirl a spray soybean oil product. My wife and I split one. It was a light dinner, but very satisfying. The spray is made by ACH Food in Memphis. Has zero calories, and probably would solve the problem of those who complained of the crusts texture. Also, cooking at 375 F for 40 minutes help too.

Delicious
This was my first time trying Steak & Kidney Pie and I was pleasantly surprised. I cooked it in my countertop convection oven (air fryer) and the puff pastry really puffed! I'm glad I set it on a little tray as the gravy bubbled out and leaked a little bit. Speaking of the gravy, it was flavorful and plentiful. I only wish there was more meat--the label reads, "now with more meat" and, if that's true, I'd hate to have tried it before. However, the meat was tender and very distinct between the steak and the kidney (I love beef kidney, but it might be an acquired taste for some). I'd give this 5 stars if there was more meat but I will still buy it again. It's a little pricey but I understand it's imported so will have it as a treat now and again.
