I didn't realize there was a maintenance cartridge for my Canon Mega-Tank multifunction ink jet printer. It almost seems like I fill the maintenance cartridge faster than I go through the ink! This works and saves me money.

I bought this to have on-hand as I knew my GX6020 would one day ask for it to be swapped. After just over a year of use the printer asked to have the cartridge replaced. I followed instructions on the cartridge box and the replacement took about a minute or two.....it was that fast. Printer was quite happy afterwards. Old cartridge went into the trash - which is too bad as I'd think they could be recycled.

I like to keep a fresh one of these stocked all the time. When your Canon printer does a "self cleaning," it is spraying ink onto the print heads and that ink has to go somewhere. It goes into a sort of sponge that quickly fills up. I know on some of the other units, you used to be able to take the sponges out and simply wash them in soapy water. On the Pixma 3770, you need to remove this cartridge and replace it. It's just a simple screw in the back and there is nothing to it.

Just went through this with an Epson XP-4200 printer. Anytime you setup, clean, do maintenance, print or even test print, you WILL have ink overflow. It's inherent over time and all printers are setup to print a limited number of pages which when reached will give you an error or a message to change the overflow tank. Cleaning the tank will NOT rest the print number, you have to get a new overflow tank. No way around it and actually it's pretty good idea to keep your printer running healthy an performing as you need.I chose to purchase this well ahead of time so I have it on hand when I need it, and I will eventually. The new built in chip will reset your print number to zero and restart the counting process as if your printer were new. Small investment for a lot of security.Purchased my G-3270 on sale during October from Amazon for just $129, great cost savings and it's already printed several hundred pages from my new tank printer. Love not having to buy cartridges and even a full set of inks are less than the cost of a SINGLE cartridge. It also holds 100 pages which is a nice feature.Definitely recommend having one these Maintenance Cartridges on hand rather than getting caught in the middle of a needed print job! Very small investment for a whole lot of convenience!

This part if the printer was something g I didn't know had to be replaced. And glad we did it.
