Ranein Natural Gas Tankless Water Heater, Indoor Max 4.3 GPM, 100,000 BTU Instant Hot Water Heater

I replaced my 14 year old, 40 gallon water heater with this tankless water heater. Installed it my self using the 42 page installation instructions available on line from the seller. Venting requires category 3 stainless steel 3 inch hardware which is readily available on line but rather expensive. However any tankless water heater would have the same requirement because of the high BTU requirement. The vent pipe which comes with the unit has very limited application. The mounting hardware which comes with the unit is not practical unless you are mounting to a tile or masonry wall. I used a couple of 1x 4 boards that I ran horizontally and attached to the wall studs with lag bolts and then used short lag bolts to mount the unit to the boards. Installation was relatively easy; connected gas using a flexible gas line ( make sure it is rated for 100,000 BTUs). I recommend you use a polyphosphate water filter ( available from Amazon for $80) in line with the input water line to reduce scale problems that can occur with hard water. I really like the display feature of the unit. It shows actual water temperature as well as set temperature, water flow rate, and gas consumption rate. It is a great feature. I am using the unit in a house with 3 full baths and 3 adults. 2 people can shower at the same time and there is still adequate water for the kitchen. The 4.2 gpm flow rate is adequate for us. The unit does a good job of maintaining a constant temperature. I have the unit installed in the garage. It is relatively quiet and I don’t hear it running in the house. The exhaust fan is very quiet; the loudest sound is just the water running thru the unit. I highly recommend this tankless water heater.

Converted my mobile home from a tanked system to this some time ago. Vented it vertically against the instructions recommendations which made me nervous at first but it works great. Hot water on demand always. Showers, baths, laundry. All good. Occasionally it times out on me while doing dishes but I just turned the water off then on again. Does not require any push of a button in the event of a power outage if you have it installed somewhere not quite so convenient like myself but it is very compact so you could always put it somewhere more accessible if you can route the plumbing and exhaust.

Great price for what you get. Installation was easy. Like everything you buy, the heater doesn't come with everything you need. Every Installation will be different from application to application. I would suggest the Installation be done by a qualified technician/experienced plumber. There is no difference in water flow or pressure. The unit is fairly quiet during operating and silent when not in use. The water heats up very quickly within just 30 seconds to the tap. Shower was nice and hot the entire time. No fluctuations in temperature at all. Great upgrade to your home!!!

Installation was a breeze. Heater worked well right after the installation and was able to get sufficient hot water to both the bathrooms simultaneously. You could also set up the temperature of water as needed on the display. The good news stop right there with the unit failing after two weeks with Error code E0. Luckily, I am in the return window. But, I still need to pay for the technician to swap out the water heater.

Ive been pleasantly surprised with this unit. It’s lightweight, easy to install(assuming all your connections are close by. My only hang ups are the fact that when there is no power, regardless of whether or not you bought a gas heater, you have no hot water because of the igniter and electrical panel on the unit run on electricity. The other only issue I have had after my one year of daily use and abuse, is that the unit keeps reverting back to Celsius. I just stopped resetting g it because it got so annoying. It’s durable and functions perfectly. And my natural gas bill went from $40ish to $15ish per month. I couldn’t be happier about that.

This is a great water heater. Installation was easy. The water flow is sensitive is excellent. It turned on every time hot water was needed. Even with a low amount of hot water flowing, it turned on within a couple of seconds.

This was a breeze to install, however you need to know how to solder if you have copper pipes or use shark bites. My pipes are 3/4 inch and I had to use reducers to 1/2 inch. Plenty of hot water for 2 bathrooms and a kitchen ran at the same time. So far, awesome.

Good water heater, I’m very satisfied with my purchase. Water heats up pretty quickly when the hot water is turned on, placement of the water heater makes a difference with this as well, shorter runs means faster response, larger distances of corse would obviously take a while. Make sure to purchase the right one for your home, the amount of fixtures makes a difference when being used at the same time.

I've always heard stories about tankless heaters not being good. This unit changed my mind completely. It heats the water instantly and never quits. No more waiting for the hot water tank to reheat. Its very small and saves so much space when you get that ugly water tank outta there. Really great product!! And as others have said, customer service is really good. if you have a question they get right back to you with the answer.

Hot water tank started leaking so bought one of these to replace. Install went very smooth, the wife loves hot hot baths and this thing is almost to much. Can turn down the heat setting on the easily readable digital display.

I had my doubts but it works great. No complaints.

I spent about $1000 installing this tankless gas water heater from Amazon. After the inspector came by, he noticed that this appliance was “CSA conforming” but not technically “CSA approved”. Plus, the pictures are misleading because the manufacturer label says outdoor installation only. I spent another $1000 removing it and setting it back for a refund to get another appliance that is CSA approved and also approved for indoor installation. I complained to the manufacturer and they confirmed these important negative details and they were happy to provide a refund. However, I’m out $2000 And two months. Very disappointed.
