My old laptop's battery died a couple of years ago, so I stopped using it. However, I needed to info access information I had stored on that computer, but I was unable to get past the "you need a new battery" screen to access the machine. So I bought this replacement battery. It took me about 5 minutes to unwrap the battery and place it in the slot. (No disassembly or screwdriver required.) Immediately, the battery worked and I was able to access the data on the computer. It charged with my OEM Dell charger to a full charge that lasts a couple of hours depending upon what I'm doing. Although I have a newer computer, I'm now using the old one to watch DVDs on the go or surf the internet wirelessly at public wifi without worry. My only regret is I didn't buy it sooner.

Work perfectly for 3 hours

I needed a new battery for my dell 17R. I previously tried one from a different vendor, and the battery will not hold the charge even though it was brand new; so I immediately returned. Then, I got this battery here, and it has worked well so far for 2 weeks. I haven't had any issues, battery keeps and holds the charge just fine even overnight. Thanks, this gives new life to my 4yr old dell 17R. The main issue I have is I still need to press and hold the power button down for about 30s for it to boot. This is a DELL issue, and not a fault of the battery. I have this problem no matter what battery I use, including the original.

2nd update. Received replacement battery and it was recognized by my system and is charging fine. Thanks to Pete at Solice for his help in getting a working battery to me. Can not give a five star rating for the product due to the problem with the first battery, but give their customer service the 5 star rating for their efforts in solving the problem. Update. The first battery did not work for me. I reached out to the seller and they have been helpful in trying to get the item to work, but were unsuccessful. I've returned the first battery and the second is in route. I'll update my review again if the second battery works. So far, No good. I purchased this replacement battery as a Christmas gift and have had no luck in getting it to work. My system (Dell inspiron 5720) shows the battery at 72 percent but not charging. When I remove the hard wire power supply the system shuts off. I've tried removing the battery and turning on the system with just the power cord, then shutting down and reinstalling the battery, but the results were the same....72 percent charge, not charging, and not powering the laptop with it unplugged from the wall. I tried a similar move where I removed the battery and power cord, held the on button to release any residual power to the system, reinstalled the battery and power cord only to show the same disappointing "not charging" info. The seller had reached out to me for a review of the product and said I could e-mail them with any questions. I did so this morning and will update this review if they are able to get the battery working for me. Until then, I can not recommend this product.
