Imagine caramel and butter slowly melting in your mouth. This is the flavor of blond chocolate. It is ten levels of deliciousness beyond white chocolate. This is buttery, with hints of brown sugar caramel that liquidate on the tongue in moments of smooth ecstasy. This is definitely a gourmet chocolate which will be appreciated by anyone who is in love with white chocolate. This contains white chocolate (32% cocoa butter). So the ingredients are: cocoa butter, sugar, whole milk powder, dried skimmed milk, whey, butter, soya lecithin, natural vanilla extract. Now I've read that the first time anyone made blond chocolate they made it by leaving white chocolate on the stove for ten hours. From the packaging I can't get any indication how this is made but I assume the process is similar to how caramel is made from condensed milk. I can guarantee that in two days your chocolate bar will be gone, if it lasts that long. Whatever Valrhona is doing I hope they keep doing it. I will definitely be getting this chocolate bar again. ~The Rebecca Review

Valrhona Dulcey is very unique. It is has a caramelly taste that reminds me of dulce de leche, and as others say it's also toasty and buttery. I first tried this in a bar by a small chocolatier that used Valrhona Dulcey as a base mixed with coffee grounds (amazing combo). I then looked this up to find the source... Yes, it is pricey, but I believe the vendor here on Amazon charges about the same that you would pay ordering from Varlhona directly. Valrhona is a really high quality producer and cocoa is expensive, so yes, it's an indulgence... for those of us who enjoy it, it's worth it, as there's nothing like it. Maybe one day I'll order the bulk chips and experiment at home, but for now the bar will do in small pieces at a time! PS. The vendor is amazing. They shipped super quickly and it was packed in a cooling package that kept it from breaking or melting. Very impressed!

Better than traditional white chocolate if you’re not a fan. It was a bit sweeter than I was expecting. I got a strong flavor of white chocolate to start, with caramel notes midway thru and a tangy finish. It was smooth and creamy. My only hang up was the price. I personally don’t think it’s worth it.

I bought this to split with a friend on the recommendation of a third party who couldn't stop raving about this... chocolate I guess it's called? Whatever you call it, the taste is amazing. I don't like white chocolate, at all, but this is different. For one thing that cloying sweetness I associate with most white chocolate is notably absent, and the smell of cocoa butter is pleasantly strong. For another there are all kinds of complex caramelized aromas that hit you when you give the bar a sniff. The taste... is awesome. At first you get something that's very like dulce de leche if it were made with cocoa butter. That gives way to a deeper caramel flavor, and then the magic happens; it resolves into a flavor that is really a dead ringer for toasted shortbread. It's delicious! So yes, it is expensive, and enough that it's in "treat" rather than "snack" territory, but it's worth it. If you're on the fence like I was, this is the perfect format to try it.

This was a terrible product as you can see from the pictures. The flavor was bad, very very dry. The bar tasted really old. I actually got an upset stomach. The product was way overpriced. The bar was broken into pieces. And of course you can get your money back. This is a rip off.
