I'm no artist but...
I enjoy colouring for boredom busting and have tried different mediums such as: colouring pencils, watercolour pencils, wax crayons, pastel chalks, gel pens and Sharpies, all of which give a different effect to the finished article. These pens seem to be water based, so they don't have that "felt tip" smell that you sometimes get, and although using one colour across the whole page, I didn't get ink all over the side of my hand as you do with other colouring materials. You can use this as a brush effect going from very fine lining to large brush strokes depending on the pressure you apply to the pen and whilst this was great for larger areas, I felt I was quite heavy handed when it came to doing the finer lines.I think to gain the water colour effect, you have to apply the supplied water brush quite soon after laying the colour before it dries out, although as you can see, I did experiment with brush strokes and drops of water directly from the tap.If I have 1 gripe, I would have preferred to have a range of basic colours rather than the range in the pack - my design used every one of the 20 pens, I was surprised there were up to 3 shades of blue, pink and green, but only 1 brown and no grey pens.Overall, a good set for the money, I just need more practice 😆

Excellent if you use them on the correct paper
When I first tried these brush pens, like another reviewer I thought they dried very quickly and were hard to blend BUT I have just tried them again on proper canvas paper and they are AMAZING! I can blend to my heart’s content, even remove mistakes. The secret, therefore, is to use them on proper watercolour paper or canvas and you will not be disappointed. Only negative was that the water pen Is stuck and can’t be unscrewed; I just dip it into water, which works fine, but that would be inconvenient for artists using them on the move away from home.Update re water pen! They unscrew the wrong way! I finally worked it out when I bought another set and had the same problem. Turn the barrel clockwise to unscrew and fill with water.

Good starter kit
These pens are a great way to dip your toe into watercolours - they’re really easy and clean. The colour selection is not bad, I would prefer a bit more subtlety in the shades for my purposes, but they are fun colours for kids. The water pen isn’t great at drawing in water, so I just keep a water cup to hand. It’s easy to vary the effect by diluting the colour but needs a decent thickness of paper

Amazing
These are the best thing I’ve ever bought. I’ve used watercolour paints for a while but they dry chalky and just a massive faff to use. These are great and the brush end allows you to be precise. The picture is just a quick rough draft but imagine how cute it’d be if it was a best copy.
