Product Description The highly anticipated fourth instalment of The Twilight Saga, directed by Academy Award® winner Bill Condon, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 reveals the mysteries of this romantic epic that has entranced millions. Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson), plus those they love, must deal with the chain of consequences brought on by a marriage, honeymoon, and the tumultuous birth of a child… which brings an unforeseen and shocking development for Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner). With more of the romance, passion, intrigue and action that made Twilight, The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse worldwide blockbusters, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1, based on Stephenie Meyer’s bestselling book series, begins the conclusion of the tale of vampire love, boundless friendship, acceptance, and finding your true self.Special Features: Audio commentary with director Bill CondonUK premiere footageJump to… Edward, JacobJacob's DestinyFilming The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1: A New Beginning, The Wedding, The Honeymoon .co.uk Review The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 delivers strongly for the rabid fan base who have catapulted the young adult novel series and subsequent movie adaptations to the worldwide phenomenon that it's become, but it alienates a broader audience with a lack of any real action. Similar to the tone of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, the first film of the two-part Twilight conclusion is heavy on romance, love, and turmoil but light on fight scenes and gruesome battles. The movie doesn't waste any time getting to the goods and opens with Bella and Edward's much-hyped wedding scene. It works--the vows are efficient and first-time franchise director Bill Condon (Dreamgirls) moves the party along quickly and amusingly with a well-edited toast scene and some surprisingly moving moments between Bella and her father, cast standout Billy Burke. The honeymoon plays as a slightly awkward soft-focus made-for-TV movie, with a lot of long moments spent staring in the mirror and some love scenes that feel at once overly intimate and completely passionless. It's a relief when Bella retches on a bite of chicken she's cooked herself and quickly concludes she's pregnant with a potentially demonic baby. From bliss to horror, the Cullens return to Forks, where Bella spends the second half of the movie wasting away and Edward and Jacob are aligned in their anger and frustration over her decision. Throw in some over-the-top scenes with Jacob and his pack--including a strange showdown where the wolves communicate in their canine form by having a passionate nonverbal fight in their minds (a plot point that works much better in print, it's portrayed in the film via aggressive voice-over)--and the film overshoots intensity and goes straight to silly. The birth scene is horrific, but not as gruesome as in the book, and by the end, Bella has of course survived, though is much altered. The final scene features a delightfully campy Michael Sheen as Volturi leader Aro and makes it clear that the action and fun in Breaking Dawn - Part 1 is ready to start. Fans will just have to wait until Part 2 to get it. --Kira Canny

BREAKING DAWN PART 1 strongly conveys themes of sexuality, love, loss and family
The film BREAKING DAWN PART 1 is a striking adaptation of the book's romantic aspects and traumatic events. The book itself is divided into three parts and the film covers about two thirds of these in its progression towards Bella's vampire transformation. So far, the critics seem to favor ECLIPSE for its strong focus on action and by doing so, they arguably lose sight of the fact that these adaptations are based on a book series of which ROMANCE is its overall theme. My personal favorites are TWILIGHT and BREAKING DAWN for how they effectively introduce and conclude the story by emphasizing that the eternal love between its central characters - Edward and Bella - is the driving force of the story.I hoped that the film would capture the passion and emotion of Edward and Bella's relationship as it evolves into marriage, sex, impending parenthood and dual immortality. Thankfully, screentime is well-devoted to these aspects. Robert Pattinson (Edward) and Kristen Stewart (Bella) share intense chemistry, which adds depth and sincerity to the lovers' connection. Their layered performances ensure that the characters' transition from joy to despair is very believable. A standout scene is when Edward desperately attempts to revive Bella after the birth of their daughter. The birth scene is very well done; it is horrific without stressing gore. There is enough implication of what is happening through sound effects and the hazy perspective of a dying Bella to result in an effective interpretation of this section of the book. The wedding ceremony is beautiful. The reception is humorous and sweet, with family and friends making toasts to the happy couple. The wolfpack subplot has rather slow pacing, but it works well as a plot device for the input of more action sequences and for Jacob to realize his position. His imprinting provides clarity and closure to a love triangle that, in my opinion, did the story more harm than good in the previous two films. My biggest disappointment about the NEW MOON film was that it misguidingly and prematurely focused on the love triangle instead of what I hoped it would concentrate on - the significance of Edward and Bella's separation and reunion as described in the book.I will definitely be purchasing this item when it comes out to buy and I'm looking forward to seeing what selection of special features it has to offer.Bring on BREAKING DAWN PART 2!

Special Features are disappointing
I am a a fan of the The Twilight Saga books and movies, I thought parts of Breaking Dawn part 1- the movie were a little disappointing, for starters the wigs on Carlisle and Jasper were really fake looking but that's a minor detail, I thought that the Wolves telepathic diaglogue scene bordered on a little silly and the wolf effects were the most fake looking of the series, I liked all the other aspects. Where this 2 disc DVD is concerned though I was very disappointed - there were much more extras on the first 3 DVD's, but this did not follow suit, I agree with another reviewer that the U.S. version of this DVD had much more extras on them - what happened Summit??? I am still glad that I have a copy of the 2-Disc edition as I have the same in all of the other films. I am looking forward to Part 2 now!!

Another excellent Twilight movie!!
I went to see this in the cinema and to be perfectly honest I came away feeling as though the whole thing had been rushed, I finally received my copy of this Blu Ray after issues with a special feature that wasn't included, this has apparently been resolved now and I have emailed Technicolor to recieve my free disc. After finally getting to re-watch the movie last night I think I have to take my initial feelings back.I now feel the whole thing was paced pretty well, besides one part that may be obvious to fans of the book, which was Bella driving her Merc I don't think anything was missed or messed up.The characters are convincing as always, story I loved anyway and has been translated well to film. This film for me shows Kristen Stewart's dedication to the role and I really can't fault anything with the movie.Effects are very well done. The Blu Ray picture and sound quality are both perfect. The most disappointing thing for me was how long it took to come through my letter box, but that's got nothing to do with the film. The whole experience is a little bitter sweet, because I loved the story so much, know it's almost all finished and will have to wait the coming months to see how the finale turns out, but hopefully it'll be as good as all of the current four releases have been.An excellent story, great movie, whether you like twilight or good films in general.Well worth multiple viewings IMO.

Only slightly embarrassed to admit it, but...
...I love Twilight and I'm a woman of a certain age who should know better! But I read the books, enjoyed them, watched the films and enjoyed them too, and I can't wait for the last instalment. Not going to say much about the cast, as enough has already been written elsewhere about the acting skills, or lack thereof, of this collection of actors. I like Robert Pattinson as an actor, though, which helps. It looks beautiful, it has flashes of humour which made me laugh out loud at the cinema and the more graphic scenes in the book are handled well and effectively. SPOILER ALERT: The transformation scene was, I thought, particularly well done and the special effects spot-on.Was a bit disappointed with the soundtrack, as the first three films have outstanding music; the collection of songs used in part 4 isn't to my taste, but the score is, as ever, evocative and beautiful. Using themes from the first three films, woven into the new melodies, links the four films together extremely well. All together, a reasonable addition to the collection, and the final scenes whetted my appetite for Breaking Dawn 2.
