Perfect size, good-quality paper, and durable covers. I use them for project planning and quick notes. A practical buy and something I’ll keep stocked.

Simple, Durable Field Notebook That Holds Up
Good size, tough cover, and the pages don’t bleed through. Easy to carry in a pocket and holds up to daily use. Nothing fancy — just a solid little notebook that’s reliable for quick notes, lists, or reminders.

Good quality materials, fountain pen friendly, good value
Admittedly, I've only had these for a couple of days, so I can't speak to how well they'll hold up to, say, being carried in a back pocket for a month. But the materials -- the paper and the kraft cover -- feel plenty solid. The books aren't sewn, but are held together by three staples down the spine. The pages aren't perforated to allow easy tearing out. The guide lines on the pages (I bought the lined version) are clear, crisp, and unobtrusive. There's a printed ruler inside the back cover, marked off in inches and 1/16ths, comparing against my steel engineers' rule, the markings are accurate. It's a nice touch; it would be nice to have a centimeter ruler as well, say, on the inside of the front cover. The paper works well with a variety of pens and pencils. It's also fountain pen friendly -- waterman blue with a fairly wet fine nib exhibits neither feathering nor bleed-thru. I'm quite pleased with the purchase and will likely purchase more when these are used.

Quality product 100%
Quality product 100%. I purchased these pocket size notebooks for our new passport covers. We have an upcoming trip and decided to add these because I enjoy a well constructed, tangible notebook or should i say pocket size notebook. Call me old school but I enjoy flipping through pages, note taking and writing personal thoughts down. 1. I find this pocket size notebook to be a well manufactured, quality item . 2. Three staples in the spine of this book hold everything together and I doubt the pages will fall out. 3. I describe the inner pages as thin, clean and crisp the horizontal Iines are spaced apart like 1/4 inches. 4. The size is pretty accurate and fits like a glove in our new covers. 5. You should recieve a bundle of 5 books at a reasonable price. In conclusion, I provided this item with a 4 star review because I can't attest to how well they are going to hold up during the course of our trip. However, at this time I'm pleased and i would definitely purchase them again. I'll update after our trip is over or if anything changes significantly. Hope this helps....

A good deal
I have, in comparison, been using the Field Notes notebooks of this same size. The Elan front and back covers are a tiny bit stiffer and a lot more sturdy. If you just stash your notebook in your pocket you will probably appreciate that. Paper quality is quite exceptional, and a great deal better than it needs to be for a product like this, not complaining but it compares equally with my hoity-toity Moleskines. So anyway, you won't have to worry about ink-bleed if you want to use your fountain pen while hiking the trail, whatever. Considering the price and quality, these notebooks are a good deal.

Cheaper Than Field Notes, Same Quality
A perfect replacement for Field Notes, this are cheaper but remain in high quality, I have never had any bleed through even with very blotchy pens, it fits any standard Field Notes journal, and unless you put it through hell you'll be okay

More quality products
Love the quality of the paper, with no leak through, so you can use both sides of the paper.

High quality, low price.
A less expensive version of the name brand field notes notebooks but a great option if you want a high quality pocket notebook without spending too much. I will be buying up as many of these as I can due to the build quality and materials quality. It's a pocket notebook that IS going to get banged up a lot. These can take the abuse and keep going.

I couldn't find the exact gsm of the paper, but I would say it's 80-90 gsm - definitely more than Moleskine's 70 gsm. The paper color is very close to solid white (see image 1, next to a Rhodia at the left, and lying on a white table top). It takes fountain pens quite good (see image 2: hardly any ghosting, just a wee bit of bleed through (negligible). The line spacing is 6,5 mm - giving you 19 lines in a subtle gray tone, plus the double line on top. The kraft cover is sturdy, and the rounded corners are a nice touch. I'm very happy with my purchase, looking forward to using them as my daily journal.

I know that a lot of people who see these pocket notebooks and think that they're a knock off brand of the field books and go on to look for a better solution. However, having used these religiously, I can honestly say these blow most of the competitors out of the water. I got these because I was tired of dealing with books that would constantly explode in my pocket and did an ungodly amount of research. I can say so far, price to quality (and really overall) these are the best in my opinion. They won't explode on you like the cheaper bound versions (I refuse to use flip book or glue bound books for this very reason), the paper takes to ink quite well (unlike riteintherain), the quality of the paper in my opinion is actually better than Moleskine for instance and the covers can take abuse. My only wish is that much like the Cahiers, that they'd have 4-6 pages (8 might be too much) that you could rip out in the back. If you're looking for something rugged, these are your go to books. I am a fulltime infantryman with 14 years in and can honestly say that these have been a game changer for me in sooo many ways and many guys in my section have been converted over with these books. The only thing I would say is that if you're going to be in the field in severely adverse conditions (water crossings, extreme rain), perhaps get yourself a cover for them. 9.8/10
