A box set containing all seven of Wes Craven's 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' films. In the opener, American teenager Nancy Thompson (Heather Langenkamp) begins to suffer from nightmares, only to discover that many of her friends are having similarly disturbed nights' sleep. Their dreams are haunted by the hideously scarred former child murderer Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) who, it soon transpires, has the power to kill them in their sleep. Freddy is out to exact his revenge on the children of those who burned him alive in retribution for his crimes, and the only way to avoid his reprisals is to avoid sleep - but Nancy knows that she can't stay awake for ever. The sequel 'Freddy's Revenge' is set five years after the original. The Walsh family have now moved into the house formerly owned by the Thompsons, and it is not long before teenage son Jesse (Mark Patton) is having bad dreams. He and girlfriend Lisa attempt to work out what is happening to him, but before long Jesse becomes convinced that Freddy has taken over his body in order to continue his murderous rampage. The second sequel, 'Dream Warriors', features the return of Nancy from the first film, now a psychiatric doctor. She teams up with Dr Neil Goldman (Craig Wasson) when a group of teenagers at his hospital begin to suffer a shared nightmare, and soon realises that Freddy has returned to continue wreaking his revenge on the descendants of those who killed him. By the fourth film, 'The Dream Master', Freddy has killed off all the children of those who originally burnt him to death. Now he's starting to kill their teenage friends. Luckily, Alice Johnson (Lisa Wilcox), one of the endangered kids, has the special ability to bring others into her dreams. She is the Dream Master, and therefore the only one who can stop the razor-fingered prankster from wreaking more of his murderous havoc. In 'The Dream Child', Alice is expecting a baby. Unfortunately for her, the meddlesome Freddy finds out about this and begins to control the foetus's dreams, hoping that the birth will be his means of returning to the land of the living. So the Dream Master sets to work, taking the battle to Krueger one final time. In 'Freddy's Dead - The Final Nightmare', having wiped out all the children in his home town, dreamstalking psychokiller Freddy decides it is time to head for pastures new. Luckily for him, he happens across a home for troubled teens and is soon indulging his unspeakable appetites once again. This was originally intended to be the final instalment in the 'Nightmare on Elm Street' series, but director Wes Craven was unable to resist bringing Freddy back one more time in his 1994 'Wes Craven's New Nightmare', a coda to the series in which Craven and his producer play themselves, persuading the now grown-up Heather Langenkamp (of the first film) to return to Elm Street one more time. She and Robert Englund are lured back to play their characters again, but this time they cannot walk away from them when they leave the film set at the end of the day... Review: Love it - A really nice collection for a true fans. Contains 8 disks, 7 with original series movies and one with encyclopaedia of thee series. Nice design. very DVD packed separately with original poster-art works, descriptions. All movies has special features lie commentary by directors and actors, widescreen versions of film, original and new mixed soundtracks, cast biographies and etc. DVD's also contains of trivia games, interactive screenplay and interactive Freddy character to haunt your computer. Nice quality. Horror genre classic, spiced up with some comedy elements. Review: Interesting series of horror/slasher films - For those of you don't know about these films, they feature a character called Freddy Kruger, who is a sort of supernatural bogeyman capable of invading dreams and, if he kills you in your dream, you're dead in real life. Certainly this is an original concept, and as the series develops we see more and more imaginative ways in which he finds to kill people, as well as some of his backstory. It has to be said, however, the latter films do get a little repetative, and the "horror" aspect fades a little as Freddy's dark humour appears, especially no 5 "The Dream Child": although this is probably the worst film, it's still OK. The 2nd film seems to stick out like an interloper from another series, but again, isn't bad. Other than that the general standard of entertainment is pretty good. It has to be said the features are a bit thin, for an important series like this, with 7 films, you'd expect a disk or two of extras. Recommended for its exploration of an interesting concept.

Frighteningly good fun
This is the ultimate 'bad' guy that everyone loves. From the terrifying original to the very jumpy 'new nightmare', these 'nightmare on elm street' films belong in every horror film fans collection. I used to be scared witless at the 1st one when i was younger and have now found, when watching it again as an adult, that I am still a bit tense when watching late at night. It's great having all 7 films in one, so I can watch them again and again. Freddy Krueger rules !!

I just ordered this box set, and can't wait for it to come in the mail tomorrow. I have seen all movies previously, and love each one for different reasons. Nightmare on Elm Street 1: This is a great movie. Though like others have said, I wish it had more Freddy in it. He was truely a scary figure in this film. This was also my first time seeing Johnny Depp in a movie, and it's obvious his death scene is the most memorable. Nightmare on Elm Street 2: This nightmare sorta through me off track. Instead of him being in dreams, he seems to be more like the devil and invade peoples bodies. While this film is probably the worst of the series, it's still a good watch. For me, the scariest scene is towards the begining when Freddy takes over the school bus of children. Nightmare on Elm Street 3: I remember renting this movie over and over. While some parts in this movie were rather comical, other parts are extremely frightening. I think it's scary because these children are locked up in a mental ward, and are completely useless. No one believes them because of the situation they're in. I wish Patricia would have stayed for the 4th installment. Nightmare on Elm Street 4: This movie would have been much better if it had kept Patricia. But the other girl did a good job at being killed none the less. I didn't really enjoy watching Freddy in a classroom full of bright light. I think that's when he starts being comical. He's much better and scarier in dark places. Still, this movie was good, and introduced us to Alice, the star of the 5th nightmare. Nightmare on Elm Street 5: Despite what other reviewers have said, I love this instalment of the series. The idea that Freddy would invade an unborn childs mind in order to kill his mother is beyond genius. I also love how you really get an idea of who Freddy was before becoming this monster. You meet his mother, and learn her horrible story and Freddys unfortunante conception. Freddys Dead: This movie was okay. It goes into more detail about how Freddy became who he is. This had to be the funniest Nightmare yet. I don't know which was funnier: Freddy playing video games, Roseanne & Tom Arnold being thrown in, or Johnny Depp making a camio after he was killed off the original nightmare. Either way, this film is great because it lets you know Freddy, and almost makes you feel sorry for him. You also get introduced to those little pesky dream things that took over Freddys body. Wes Cravens New Nightmare: I loved this film. It did give Freddy a 'real' feel. I thought it was genius for Wes Craven himself to be in the film. Robert England played himself as well. The only complaint I have with this movie is how they made Freddy look. The new and improved Freddy for the 90's isn't even that scary looking. He looks like he has muscle exposed on his face instead of being burnt, and his new high tech glove reminds me of the terminator. Also, his clothes have changed. He looks like he's wearing Gucci instead of the same 1970's clothes he had on when he was burnt. I suggest if they make anymore Freddy movies, they go back to the leather glove, burnt body, and 70's apparell. In many ways, I wish this box set wasn't released untill they were finished making Freddy movies. Then I wouldn't have to buy an extra movie that won't fit in the box in January. I haven't seen Freddy VS Jason yet, but I hope he isn't the same freddy we seen in the new nightmare. Overall, the Nightmare On Elm Street series is a great set for anyone who loves horror films with a twist.

I got this on sale for an amazing deal at $17. After tax and shipping, it was under $24 for 5 discs of 7 Nightmare on Elm Street films and loads of special features (special features with each film + disc 5 is exclusively special features). The shipping was super fast too! This arrived on March 20, well in advance of the estimated delivery date of March 25 - April 4. The item arrived in pristine condition and was delivered with care. The item itself is packaged so compactly with 5 discs in one regular sized blu-ray case and a sleeve. Love that this is a space saver. This is a perfect addition to my horror movie collection and is a steal for the whole Nightmare on Elm Street collection. So happy with this purchase. I recommend for all Freddy fans - you can't go wrong with the price and in one case, it saves room on your shelf to add other items to your collection :) Sweet dreams!
