For the pro
While the book contains abundant good advise for the professional, it's mainly for those who are well connected and professionally established. Most of the advice will go over your head if you haven't run into the scenarios depicted in the book. Perhaps some of these pearls of wisdom will hang out in your hippocampus for later use, but curiosity of the beginning student will be entirely rebuffed. Don't worry if you find yourself repeatedly flabbergasted when Zito repeatedly claims that "you're now an expert" after briefly touching upon a subject. It's a quite entertaining read from that aspect.

The title of the book doesn't lie, highly recommend
I started my career in Building Automation 2 years before this book was published, with absolutely no industry knowledge or experience. I can honestly say if this book had been available back then, I would be leaps and bound ahead of where I am now. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to start a career in BAS or expand/refresh their current industry knowledge. If you are looking for a detailed guide to understanding the many, many aspects of Building Automation / Energy Management systems, this is THE book!

I respect Phil Zito; hurts to say it- the book sucks
Like the title mentioned, I’ve been a fan for years of Phil Zito and his work and contributions he has put into the industry. Hurts to say it but this book offered little to no value. I can’t recommend it. I would recommend people to still check out his podcast and other resources

As Advertised
This book fast tracked my understanding of BAS within the 1 week it took me to read this book. Learn from the author's mistakes without having to commit the same problems yourself. Definitely a worthwhile investment to help any BAS engineer be at the top of his/her game.

Many pages for almost no information
Very disappointed. If you are looking for a book with precise and quantified information on BMS, please skip it. The author presents almost no figures as for example his "history of the BMS", I quote: "There once was a guy who made a thermostat. Folks liked it. So he made more. The End."...You will find more information on Wikipedia than in this book!

Get a head start
Written in plain english, this is a great tool for anyone in the BAS field.

broad but not deep
This books touches on a lot of subjects very superficially. The style is conversational. If you like that, it's ok. I prefer a book that is 100% content driven and things are explained thoroughly. Definitely overpriced. It's got a little bit of meat. If you just want to survive,(like the tile claims) know a little bit of the industry's lingo and a very superficial brush up on many different subjects related to BAS it's fine.
