It wasn’t for a bird. I do squirrel rescue, these are perfect. Easy to put in place, sturdy, great quality. I placed them in a large enclosure in corners, and in different sections. They were perfect for allowing an animal to jump from one area to another. They are thick and I have returned several times to purchase more. Great for hanging out on, putting food bowl next to, or just chew and rub their face. I love these and will continue to order. Oh one more thing, they are really easy to keep clean.

This perch isn't a small item, so plan on it taking up a good amount of space in one corner of your bird's cage. That said, it's worth it. The perch is very sturdy, stable, and easy to install. It adds variety to your bird's perch options. My parakeet loves his corner perch! I put his treats on the perch, or hang them in that corner of the cage, and he enjoys having the room to peck away at them, from all angles, without being at the bottom of his cage. Even though the perch is made of wood, it wipes clean pretty easily. And, because it's made of wood, I use Nature's Miracle Bird Cage Cleaner on a paper towel to wipe the perch down. That helps to safely and effectively remove any poop and stains. My parakeet doesn't peck at the wood, so it's holding up very well. I've had cockatiels before and this perch would be a good size for them as well. I believe it would work for any smaller to medium-sized bird species. My parakeet and I are very happy with this purchase!

We have 3 cockatiels who love to stand on these. They also love to chew them up, so they will last about 6 mos. or so, but if it keeps them happy, then I am happy. They clean fairly easy and they are sturdy. I like that they are just natural soft wood with no finish applied so we do not worry about the birds ingesting something unhealthy. Good product, will continue to buy them. I believe the smell is the natural wood smell. If you have ever been to Home Depot in the lumber dept., It has a similar smell. The birds do not eat the wood they chew off, it just drops to the bottom of the cage. I have ordered these 5 or 6 times, so I know they are safe.

Had a horrible time getting this installed. Just didn't line up well with my cage. Once I finally got it on, it's fine. My bird likes it, seems sturdy so far.

As the title says this is bigger than I imagine, but this perch is not like your normal perches you do need a screwdriver to put it onto the cage for your bird. This perch is safe, it has a nice appearance, and it is super sturdy once you get it on the cage. I recommend this.

My twenty three year old Quaker loves her little platform. At her age, it’s challenging to grip her perches all day long so this gives her time to rest her feet. Cleaning it is a challenge, however, and after several washings the screws lose their grip. But because it is difficult to find these, I’m giving this five stars since it is an important resource for all birds.

I was hesitant about the smell at first, but after soaking in a solution of dish soap and vinegar for an hour and roughing up with a wire brush, the smell was gone. I would suggest to the manufacturer that this treatment that gives the odor be discontinued. if not for the smell I would have rated higher. The smell did go away with thorough cleaning, which should be undertaken in any case before adding to an animals cage.

I bought this platform roughly 6 months ago, and am coming back around to report out on it. I have two playful bonded budgies, and they absolutely LOVE hanging out on this. I have a tall flight cage, I'm 5 feet, so it's a little taller than I am. This was easily installed in one of the corners of the cage, no issues whatsoever. It took maybe a week or so before they would go over to check it out. But now, they love to sit there & chatter to each other. I also will affix a sprig of parsley or some broccoli on the side, to entice them over. They just chill on the platform, having snacks, and gossiping like they're at the office water cooler, LOL. And I also think it's easy to clean -- I just use those bird cage wipes to wipe it down (because yes, they do poop on it). But for me, this was a great purchase. My boys are happy, so I am happy. : )

Update: Got a 2nd perch as this is such a hit with my birds. Very much worth it for how much my birds like it. You will need to wipe this down all the time as birds poops all the time, and if they sleep on this perch its where the poop collects. Pro: - Fast Delivery - My birds love it (Used it within the first few hours of placing it in their space. To be fair I placed some millet on it to entice them and now they sleep on this and rest on it frequently). - Sturdy and Think - The wood is untreated (or at-least SEEMS untreated, its like a sanded down piece of wood). - LARGE - Fits perfectly in corners Cons: - Came with a strong smell (however after a night of airing out it was fine). This is not a chemical smell, more like a strong pine smell. - The bolts keeping this in the cage need a star head screw-driver. I would have preferred wingnuts to make moving the perch easier. - The wood has eyes that my birds are somewhat eager to nibble on. Items to be aware of: - The wood is porous so you will need to be diligent with wiping it down (again: untreated). - The screws require a star-head strew driver - Probably be a good idea to wipe it down before first use. I had some white wood glue looking stuff come our of some of the wood eyes when I did this - Seller is quick to respond to inquiries: I asked the seller what kind of wood this is and was told "fir". A google search of Chinese fir comes up with: Cunninghamia lanceolata; which is apparently safe for birds as it falls in that pine/cedar category. Overall, I would get this again and I am considering purchasing a second perch as my birds seem to enjoy this just that much.

My budgies stand on the shelf while enjoying spray millet. They rest their feet and relax. What could be better. It is important that birds can have a break from perches when needed, so this corner shelf is a good size, well made and best of all, used!

pay attention to the measurements, it doesnt fit all cages. my birds cage is 20x31x60 and it didnt fully reach one side of the cage. i accidentally stripped one of the bolts trying to get it to stay in place. other than that it holds up well and my bird likes it.

Quite a bit larger than I expected, but mounts easily and securely, and seems like it's made of a very nice wood. No harder to clean than you would expect of a real wood surface. Bird likes it.
