Airvisual Outdoor is simple to install
Really all you need to do is sync your wifi router to the device, all you need is your wifi/router password, then once synced you can begin install which is really just a few screws and you snap the device on the hook.. then drill a small hole into the wall, feed the flat ethernet cable into the wall and plug it into the adapter that comes with the device and that's it! You can use the app on your phone or ipad to see real-time air quality information. It's perfect for me since I have neighbors that smoke, I can tell if I should open my doors/windows or not. Also, we have a lot of fires going on during the summer. You can also setup push notifications on your phone when the air is getting bad, it'll alert you on your phone, and when the airs starting to get good it also alerts you as well (you can set the AQI when you would want notifications too). All in all it was a great buy, I'm waiting for my airvisual indoor so i can pair it so I can always see what's going on outside without having to login to the app.EDIT: I just purchased the Airvisual pro and it was simple to connect the Airvisual Outdoor to the pro. Just go on your phone or tablet and find the "sharable code" and go into the airvisual pro and type it in and save. The reason why I got the airvisual pro is I no longer have to go on my phone or tablet to see the outdoor reading, if you go on those you don't get "real time" information, you have to keep refreshing the page which is annoying.. With airvisual pro I can see real-time readings at a glance which is very convenient.

Simple, straightforward setup for local peace of mind
After the Eaton fire, a lot of the air quality sensors in the area went offline because, well, they burned. With the ash and soot in the air, having a local reading will be important, especially as they start hauling debris out.Setup is very simple and straightforward, the most difficult part will be mounting the outdoor sensor and running the Ethernet cable to the PoE adapter (or your own PoE switch). You have to create an account (what doesn’t these days), but you’ll then be able to access your sensors from anywhere. AQI, PM2.5, PM10, PM1.0, CO2, Temperature and Humidity are all reported. PM sensors on the outdoor unit are supposedly replaceable, we’ll see how easy that is and how much it costs when we get there.

Not bad, could use a few improvements
Requires a factory reset to use ethernet if wifi was previously configured and the product uses non-standard passive POE. The modular sensor form factor has massive potential if IQAir chooses to expand beyond just the optional CO2 sensor.

Avoid IQAir Sensors. No Support, No Transparency, and Useless Data
I regret purchasing an IQAir sensor. The product itself is unreliable, but the real failure is their nonexistent customer support. When you call in, the representatives have zero training, no technical knowledge, and no ability to actually troubleshoot the product. They’re simply there to answer the phone and tell you they’ll “escalate” your issue. The so-called tech team? Completely unresponsive—emails go unanswered, and despite multiple follow-ups, I’m still waiting for a callback from a supervisor. The initial issue was simple—my sensors were reporting erratic data. I attempted to replace them myself, but the data remained inconsistent. While other sensors like PurpleAir and AirGradient reported low particulate levels, the IQAir sensor’s algorithm inflated AQI readings significantly. For example, my sensor’s raw data might show a PM2.5 in the single digits, but the public AQI output would report 55. This suggests their system manipulates readings to influence publicly available air quality data rather than reflecting actual conditions. On top of that, their dashboards are completely closed off. Historical data is poorly visualized and lacks transparency. If you’re looking for a reliable, open-data air quality sensor, I strongly recommend AirGradient, which allows for full data publication and transparency. PurpleAir is also a solid alternative—while I’ve seen some sensor drift over time, their platform is much more open and useful than IQAir’s locked-in, opaque system.Bottom line: IQAir sensors are overpriced, inaccurate, and completely unsupported. Do yourself a favor and go with a company that actually values its customers. I contacted the CEO of North America. Will update if I get a response.
