Great kits for kids and adults.
great kit with plenty of clay and a good amount included for the price. It also comes with a small silicone pot shaper that makes creating the pots very easy for all skill levels. I like that they include plastic candles as well to save on using real ones that could be dangerous. Perfect kit for kids and a great gift idea.

Not for young children
Wow, this was difficult. The description for these varies from saying they are suitable from 8, and then 9 and then 10. I love arts and crafts and consider myself capable when it comes to most crafts, but the instructions for these were lacking and the difficulty level was high. The instructions seem to miss a step or 2, you then have to assume and hope for the best. I tried so hard to interpret them my daughter got so frustrated waiting for me that we just ended up winging it in the end and it came out okay. We managed to do one though and then gave up on the other 2. It's important to note and set expectations that you will not get something out as fancy as the box illustrations. It does dry rock hard after a few days but every time I look at it now I just remember the frustration! The only light that's emitted is through the stamp holes you make, so bear that in mind. I would probably put this more at age 12 plus, but I certainly didn't find it as enjoyable as I had hoped and I'm in my 30s.

Will need adult help.
I would have loved this product as a child but I think I’d have become very frustrated if I couldn’t reproduce the photos on the box. I had expected it to be plain modelling clay, which you then paint but it’s not; it contains 9 small packs of coloured clay, which you combine to create different effects. No painting is involved. Positives: A really comprehensive art and crafts activity pack with everything provided to make 3 candle holders. LED candles are also included but I’m not sure that they’ll be visible through clay. Detailed written and pictorial instructions are provided. Full information and safety advice is provided. A delayed gratification activity since the clay takes 3-5 days to harden. Negatives: Obviously, I haven’t tried making anything but there are a few issues that I can see occurring. Only one pot can be made at a time since only one mould is provided. This means that only one child can participate. There are 2 small plastic bags for storing clay once it’s been opened but there are 9 bits of clay of different colours. It’s not a big problem since most people keep sealable food bags in the house. The pictures on the box show beautifully crafted candle holders but I very much doubt that a child could produce anything remotely like them. In fact, I very much doubt that I could either! I think there’s a possibility that children will be disappointed with what they end up making but maybe the pots could be painted in places. An adult will definitely have to explain what to do and how to do it. Assistance will probably be required so it’s not an activity that a child could do alone but that’s not necessarily a negative point. The manufacturer has put a lot of thought into this product and it’s a good product but it does have the potential to disappoint.

A fun creative project kit with clear instructions
I'm often looking for craft kits for around the 7/8 years + still with adult supervision and projects that can be done independently by 11/12+ year olds. These luminaries are really sweet and the instructions can be clearly followed either by an adult supporting or an older child working independently. As you are mixing the colours yourself they aren't going to look exactly like they do on the packaging so it's worth setting expectations clearly from the start if you have a child who likes things to look 'exactly' like the packaging. We found the element of creating our own unique pieces great. You get all the tools you need and I particularly liked that you got the mold for the shape of the lantern. A great fun project for creative kids.

Good set
The Arts And Crafts Set for 9-12 Years Old is a good crafting set. It does come with good selection of colours and the instructions are easy to follow. This is a great craft project for rainy days when the children are bored. Our granddaughter has made a couple of colourful pots. Our granddaughter is 9 and has enjoyed mixing the colours together and making the pots. Recommended
