I'm very pleased. I purchased the same product over 20 years ago. Today, the product is thinner and not quite as wide - 24 x 10 versus 25.25 x 11.75; however, they work equally well. I feel no need to tack down the sides and presume that is mostly a liability feature. They are expensive considering its plastic, but as someone else already said - they are the only game in town. Nevertheless, they work great and I highly recommend for carpeted stairs you want to protect from foot traffic.

I bought a medium grade carpet for my stairs - so not intensely think - and thought these would be perfect to protect them as they lead to the level with the doggie door. Yes, the price is ridiculous for a piece of vinyl with a curved edge. I paid $29.99 for two and bought 7 sets for all fourteen stairs. They DO NOT stay in place and become a trip hazard. I shopped around for the perfect flat head tacks to tack them down as recommended, but that doesn't work either - they not only look really ugly tacked and mashed down at the corners, but if you step on the tack, the remaining cushion of the carpet beneath allows it to poke into your foot - and the heavier you are, the harder the poke! Given that they only cover the mid section of the width of a stair step it is VERY easy to step on the edge and the head of a tack. I gave up and returned them all. Amazon is silly to offer this product but at least generous enough to take it back!.

They stay on well and are not slippery. They also keep my cats from sharpening their claws on the stair carpet.

These are perfect for stairways that get a lot of traffic because they are durable, don't detract from the carpet, and keep the carpet clean. However; they don't stay in place very well, so I purchased Gorilla Double-sided Mounting Tape and stuck a 4" piece at the inside bend of each carpet protector. This is working beautifully. A little pricey, but still glad I purchased.

Have two carpeted steps I had to protect. They do slide a bit and I must realign them every so often. But I don’t know of any other options. They are quite expensive though.

These worked great - and looked very nice on the steps. BEST thing is that they were shipped flat so there was no fighting for days to try and shape them. I did attach with upholstery nails to keep them in place (pre drilled holes) and so that I can easily remove to clean underneath and then replace again. Only thing is would have liked them to fit a little deeper and wider to fit the whole step…but it covers the majority. Great investment thus far!

These are very tricky to get to stay on the steps. My husband tried putting nails through the little nail holes and they just flip up. A certain trip hazard. Obviously this method didn’t work. Then tried carpet tape and they just kept sliding off the steps every time you walked on them. He finally got them to stay on by using nails in the top and under. I don’t like the idea of having to put ANY nails in my steps. Also, their top portion that sits in the stair is too short. The width is ok but when you step on them they do not go all the way back, your toes are not on the plastic. I have sz 8 women’s foot and my toes go well beyond these plastic covers. I do not recommend.

These are thinner than previous stair covers but hold well. They look very nice.
