Works like new
Didn't get any manual in the box so downloaded from Asus site. Got the router, power adapter and a blue ethernet cable which doesn't specify which cat it is. Anyways, the router itself works good. No scratches and software works flawlessly. Wifi signal for both bands are good for our duplex. And so I put it on power saving mode and still get 4 bars in the furthest room. The webui is very slow by default, guides u through unsecured http address etc which is fine since ur locally accessing, but to make the UI isnt responsive, the access must be set from default to http. I've tried https mode with renewing the certificate and then exporting to pc and installing it but with no success in speed increase of the UI so went back to http and it's very responsive. You can do the same by first going to administration > system > under local config choose http. And just remember that the ram usage always being over 50% used is completely normal. Don't use QOS or else every device will have devided bandwidth and we can't change that, so if u have 10 devices connected to 1gbps internet, u will get only 100mbps max bandwidth on each device without fail. Also setting limited bandwidth to guest network enables QOS so beware. Trend micro security is a bonus and compatible with echo dot and Alexa is just icing on the cake when it comes to enabling and disabling guest network with Alexa voice commands. Asusrouter.com didn't work for me so i used the default ip 192168.50.1 , and also the mobile app is very useful as well, with 60% of the features. Worth an upgrade if u r coming from a budget router like me with a tplink ac1200
