Scratches easily
Washed it right out of the box with a sponge and it looks like this after the first wash. Scratches too easily.

keeps drinks at stable temp, easily portable, fits in cup holder. what more could I want?
I got an ember mug way back when they only did 10oz versions. I found that to be way too small...then I got the 14oz. Good, but I had some gripes. I couldn't take it with me on the go, and it couldn't fit in cup holders with the handle. When I saw the 16oz tumbler I immediately fell in love. The handle is a great touch, the lid locks in place well, and it fits the cup holder! this thing is awesome. The only complaint I have is that it is harder to clean than previous mugs. Two reasons for this:1) it's deeper than a normal ember mug. That is pretty obvious from the photos but definitely something to consider especially if you have big hands like me. it's hard to get a sponge in there, and brushes just do not do the trick.2) it's a metal material instead of the enamel that's used in other ember mugs. in other mugs you technically don't really have to wash them with soap. You can really just rinse them out unless stuff is dried, and in that case you could theoretically just run hot water over it until it's clean. I do use soap of course, but just a consideration that the non-stick surface of the OG ember mugs was EASY to clean. This metal is much harder. The coffee sticks to it like glue and so you HAVE to get something slightly abrasive into the bottom of the mug....which is harder for reason 1 I mentioned.Even with that, ember mugs are amazing. Are they expensive? YES. Are they a necessity? NO. Do I care? Also No. I love these mugs. I can't chug coffee like others and want to sip it over an hour, but if the coffee cools down I find it totally revolting. Dialing in your coffee to a goldilocks temperature and being able to enjoy it for HOURS if you choose is a decadent luxury.

Lid Leaks, loses heat quickly when charge runs out
I have 3 major complaints that lead me to believe this product is just gimmicky and not ready to be released on the market in its current formMy first and biggest complaint: The lidsThe cup comes with 2 lids, one that has a handle and one that slides open for when you want to drink. The one that has a handle has threads for you to screw and unscrew, but the one for drinking does not, it's just suction. The suction doesn't prevent liquid from coming out of the cup if tilted over, and if you try to pick the cup up by this lid, it will come open. There should be threads on both lids, and they should both be spillproof, but they're not.My second design complaint is that the charger is not waterproof. Why would you design a charger meant to charge a product that holds liquids that will break if any liquid gets on it? This sounds like a way to get people to spend extra money if a drop of coffee or tea slides down the cup and hits the contacts. They sell car charger versions, and that would be even riskier seeing as the lid isn't spillproof as I mentioned aboveThird and final complaint is that the cup doesn't hold heat as well as other normal insulated cups once the charge runs out. If you're looking to buy this intending to take this cup to work assuming that once the 3 hour charge runs out, you'll still have decently hot coffee? This is not the product for youOther than the bad points, it does have some good points. The 3 hour charge that was advertised is true, even at max temp, from what I have seen. The packaging is very nice, so it would make a nice gift if not for the above points. The app and instructions are easy to use, setup, and understand. If they would sell this product with actual leak proof lids, a waterproof charger, and insulate the cup as well as other insulated cups, it would be a great product. I look forward to seeing how this technology continues to develop in the future, but for now - this ain't it

Finally! Hot coffee all morning!
I’ve had the Ember mug on my wish list for several months now and I finally splurged and got it. I couldn’t be any more impressed with my Ember. It has become a part of my daily routine.I love how you can customize the temperature and also program temperatures in the Ember app based on the beverage you are drinking. The size of the mug fits in my car easily or in the side of my backpack so it is super easy to bring anywhere. As a bonus, it can also function as something to keep your soup warm.I’m glad I finally caved and bought it.
