Style Legends, Rebels, and Visionaries. Hardcover – July 18, 2023

I got this as an interesting addition to my living room, and everyone who stops over eventually ends up leafing through it. I'm no paragon of style myself... i'll wear jeans and a flannel shirt to most everything, but that doesn't mean i can't appreciate the creativity of others when it comes to their wardrobes. The illustrations are great, very vibrant as well as whimsical while still being detailed and realistic. Each page has a little blurb next to the illustration and it covers icons through the decades from the golden era to modern ages. The icons of days past are definitely more interesting as they kinda paved their own road, versus their modern contemporaries who 'borrow' from those who have come before, but that's just my opinion... obviously. The book is well made and sturdy, and definitely makes a great coffee table book.

Style Legends, Rebels, and Visionaries.I agree with the authors that all of the people included in this book are definitely style icons but I just can't place ASAP Rocky - I mean I know he is Rhianna's baby daddy but outside of that relationship, I can't place him. I knew each and every one of the people included here but then some people might not know who Iris Apfel is. That is probably a tip-off to my age.I am so happy that RuPaul, Cher, and John Waters are included as well. Most of the people shown here have a style you can point to and know immediately who it belongs to. I was thrilled to see Thom Browne with his dachshund bag in here as well since that purse is something I have longed for. These are some of the best style icons throughout the art, music, and film scene.

11.18.23~ For such a succinct book, it's very well versed.Each icon has an artist rendering on one page & a bibliography on the other.That's it. One open book page per person.However the research was done quite well by Bijou Karman.You think by the way it's written interviews were done with the author.Yet the Bibliography gives other sources including past interviews for content.For a book, no thicker than a child's collection of short fairy tales, it did its job.Includes all the icons past & present.From Diana to Riahanna. From Bowie to Styles. From Spike to Jeremy O.As well as behind the scenes like director Wes Anderson & legendary Edith Head.Edith styled for the studios Audrey, Grace, Liz, so many more and she was fierce.In her own right was one of the original 'Boss as an Attitude' women.This book is about style. About what's personal. The voice your clothes give you.It's a great gift to remember to live brave~ live bold. Be You.As the ever-confident Iris Apfel says " Fashion you can buy but Style you possess "

The illustrations in this book are amazing and evoke the style of the fashionistas. You might recognise some and learn about the rest based on your age, who that is will differ. Good introduction to how the legends got started. You might end up learning a bit of how to let your style work for you. It is interesting how the style icons just let their style be honed either with the help of others or drowning out the times and making their own mark. Each has a different path. This is a multi generational book. An 8 year old might recognize or be interested in Harry Styles and another age group might want to know more about someone or who is this? A good conversation starter or a Great Coffee table book. Enjoy the pop of color, conversation and entertainment!

Was happy to find this book on Amazon since Anthropologie was out of stock. Unfortunately it came with a damaged corner :-( No one wants a coffee table / decor book sitting out that has a dinted corner.

Smudges , holes , indents everywhere. Every single corner was damaged .

This is a beautifully illustrated book about some famous people who are well-known for their fashion statements. Some have careers in other things, other than fashion. It is well-written, and the artwork is fabulous! A must for any fashionista! I learned some interesting facts about some of the people in the book and I think you will too!

I would consider this an art book for musicians and just the top most popular and influential individuals. I really enjoyed this book a lot, and it has a lot content throughout the book.
